I had a butler on Voyager and was underwhelmed, as several others have said. He certainly didn't go out of his way to do anything, unless you asked. For people who have never used one before, and don't know the realm of duties they can accomplish (as I was on this trip), I got the impression his attitude would have been "If you're too stupid to know what to ask, then I'm not going to enlighten you." Unfortunately for him, I'd been reading this and other boards and knew what to ask - I had a list prepared for our first meeting, and I could see his facial expression turn to dismay. They're generally (and within reason) not supposed to say "No" to any request, and he didn't, but I saw no enjoyment in his face about his job - nothing outrageous was requested - a cocktail party (for which I had to make an appointment with him, to arrange  ), some laundry (that was late being returned and I had to page him - he sounded miffed that I'd bothered him but it was within his duty hours), a couple reservations... other than that, I never saw him. - oh, well.... <img border="0" alt="[sleep]" title="" src="graemlins/sleep.gif" />
