It can be a real hassle. YOu have to pay someone to have it clear customs and then pay delivery again to get it delivered to your home. If you live close to a port you can go pick things up but it is something to be aware of - not simple. Also the costs can really add up. After my Vietnam and Malta purchases last year I have now decided if I cant carry it then I dont need it.
Seems like everyone has a different experience too, sometimes it all just works smoother.
