Marc, I think that in the end Regent did offer a tour to Kandy, but I'm not 100% sure because it was a very long excursion and we didn't pursue it. However, as Andi mentioned, the organization (or lack of it) around the way excursions was handled was terrible. Almost every day--and TAJ was a port-intensive cruise--the procedure was a little different, and almost all the passengers were grumbling about the waste of time and poor logistics. The excursions themselves were almost uniformly good despite the coaches. But it's hard to beat private tours if you don't mind arranging them.
