I know that a car is not required, but I called the hotel & they told me that a taxi from DFW would run about $50 give or take.
So I looked at rental cars. I figured that anything under $100 (given that there are huge taxes on rental cars), I would be ahead because of the flexibility a car of my own would bring.
I was looking for Friday noon to Sunday about the same time.

American Airlines had an ok deal w/ Budget. A bit over $100 but with 3,000 AA miles.
United was way out of the ball park with their Hertz deal.
Priceline was off the mark, as well. The name your own price never got close.

But Hotwire got the job done. $86.43 for a compact. What more do I need?
These prices are so fluid, I decided to grab it. After all, it is a 3 day rental how much more could I save given the taxes!
