Karen, we also did the underwater helmet walk the last time we were in Bora Bora--it's one of my favorite excursions of all time. The helmet is a little heavy before you get in the water, but after that it's just pure wonder at the fish and the underwater scenery. You go down about 10-12 feet with a bag of bread and the fish immediately surround you. You can actually walk around on the sea floor, but there's a rope to hang on to, so you don't get too far away from the boat. They pump air into the helmet which is heavy enough to keep you from floating to the top. We really loved doing it and would do it again in a heartbeat. In fact, we're going to be in Aruba in January and may do it again while we're there. Debbie, next time you get a chance, be sure to do it!
