I just received this email from Peggy and wanted to pass it along -

Hi Denise-hope you don't mind that we're using you to pass on our emails to LCT.
I know you've heard from Leslie and Ngaire, so
forgive me if I repeat something. So far we're all doing well on the ship, but we really miss Don and Michelle who are probably still in Buenos Aires mending Michelle's infected foot. We hate it that they had to cancel the cruise because
Michelle can't fly until her foot mends.
Hopefully Michelle has posted and filled you
in on the details.

Our cabins are quite nice, but not as nice as Regent. There's no balconies for one thing--not that we'll want one in the Antarctic.

The other thing is that the beds aren't nearly as
comfortable. We had two zodiac landings in the
Falkland Islands today: one to see a colony of
Jackass penquins (that's what they're called, not
my opinion of them) and the second to have tea at
a local farmer' home on Carcass Island. We had wonderful cookies, cakes, etc made from real
"farm fresh" butter and cream. Oh well, what's
one more inch on the hips... In general, the food
has been excellent--we're all a little ncredulous
about how good it is. Reportedly, the lobster last night was the best anyone has ever had (I don't know, I ate the tenderloin. It was also excellent).

You'll undoubtedly hear more about the food as
we go along. Tomorrow we're in the big town of
Stanley, Falkland Islands. We plan to party at the local pub called the Globe Tavern since this is the only stop we have that even has a pub. Oh yes, one more benefit of this trip--we're all learning German. All the announcements, instrutions, etc are in German and then repeated in English--we might as well listen to both and learn a new language, right?

Auf Weidershön (I didn't say I was learning to spell in German).

Peggy
