What's always been missing from any of the bookable specialty restaurants, is the ability to say, "I'd like to dine with others". So, basically, you choose a group before-hand, or you dine alone.

Yes, you're right Greg. Should probably do that.

Maybe I will book a night for 4 or 6 in each and then we can add and subtract or move them as needed!

We booked the 10th at 1930 in Signatures (Captain's reception night and formal night). If I'm getting dressed up I wanted to go to Signatures anyway. We also booked Latitudes at 1930 on the 13th (repeater night). We have tables for 6 N/S for both and there are 3 of us. The Maitre'd will fill the 3 "empty's" (I'm guessing from the wait list) unless we make other arrangements. If a couple or a threesome would like to join us you are more than welcome. We may cancel the Lattitudes once we get on board depending on the menu. I'm hoping for a regional menu (western Med /Iberian). If the Pan-Asian is on again we may skip.

I hate to be a spoil sport, but when you reserve a table for 4 to 6 without any idea that others will be joining you it will keep others from reserving a table. I don't think that was the intention of the reservation system. If you remember, when we use to reserve on the first day of the cruise, we had to specify the suite numbers of the others in a large party. That would be their reservation, too and keep people from double booking ("I'll go on your reservation, then you can come on mine!"). The old system was much less convient but if the new system is exploited we may be returning to the old way because the fairness of the system was more transparent.

David, are you the David on this cruise?? I think the intention is to share the bookings among the 13 LCTers on this cruise, at least to some extent, or as Greg says, fill the table with those on the wait-list. I like that idea, since it's nice to dine with a group most evenings, and making an individual reservation, you can't do that. Of course, once on board, they may ask for those pesky room numbers.

I don't intend to make any bookings, until I find out all the cordon bleu events. And we want to book La Verandah on one of the formal nights (to dodge it), and you can't book that online.

David,
Actually, I'm not sure how much that can happen. Since names are still required RSSC can see that I have a table for 6 and only 3 folks. I fully expect, if I don't add names before or shortly after boarding, to get a note from the Maitre'd that Mr. and Ms. Jones will be joing you for dinner or asking if we've filled our table yet, if not would we mind a cozy table for three. I'd like to think the Regent IT are smart enough that if you and Pierce wanted to join us for dinner on the 10th, when I added you names to our reservation; you would find you couldn't make a reservation at Signatures. Maybe they're not that good, but I have hope. People who are not "net ready" are at a significant disadvantage...they'll be standing in line at the Maitre'd desk that afternoon in Monte Carlo for (what I assume might be called) less desrirable times. In this day and age I'm not 100% sure about how to avoid placing non-net capable folks at a disadvantage.

As an aside, I serve on the Board of Directors of (for this area) a large 501(c)3 equine based therapy organization. It is a requirement for members of our Board to be email capable. As a volunteer org most of our Board have "day jobs" and we do a lot of our business thru "virtual meetings." This excludes some fantastic folks from the serving on our Board but if we had to do all our business "face to face" we'd be excluding a lot of other fantastic folks who have other commitments.

I don't know the answer that would be fair to everyone. If I hold on to our 6 spot until late the afternoon of the 10th...I'm being a bit of an (undesirable explicative). People like that generally, can find a way to abuse most any system.

Greg

BTW, does Voyager dock at Monte Carlo, are do we tender? Just wondering, since someone at CC mentioned tendering.

I can't imagine them tendering with luggage and passengers embarking.

We embarked from Monte Carlo and you definately do not tender. It is a regular cruise port terminal. Only a few weeks for you WAVE cruisers. Enjoy the anticipation and your cruise.
Cheers, Pam

That's what I thought, thanks. But someone over at CC was warning that large ships tender. Of course, Voyager isn't a large ship. But you're right Kathy, I can't imagine a tender port for embarkation. I presume we won't have any tender ports this trip.
