My brother is planning on visiting the Dominican Republic. I hear Punta Cana has beautiful beaches and I have heard about a hotel called Paradisus. Has anyone been there, have any recommendations, comments, feedback? He is just looking for a relaxing beach vacation to treat his daughter who has had a rough year at college. Thanks.

Susan, I have been to Punta Cana before and I think the beaches are some of the prettiest in the world. White, clean sand with palm trees for shade when you need it.
As far as nice resorts, I would recommend Secrets or Paridisus.

Hi Susan! Long time no see!
Flashback of nightmares and panic attacks; we went to the Dominican Republic with a group in 1989, stayed at Casa de Campo. Our passports and exit paperwork fell out of my purse in a casino, but we didn't know where they were until AFTER we spent an entire day replacing them. I still get chills when I think about that place, and any time we are on a ship that is docked there, I stay in my cabin.
