Ngaire and I have been discussing adding our own chat room. I have shopped around today and found one that is user friendly to both pcs and macs. We are going to test drive the first one and see how it goes. If everyone can access it, we will upgrade to a customizable version. (Our Ngaire is sooo very kind to us!)

I'm getting a Luxury Cruise Chat titled screen with what appears to be a dialog box that has the dreaded small white box with the red x in the upper left hand corner. I'm using Pc with XP Home Edition.

Don't forget, the room won't look like it does now once we upgrade! It will have alot more different features such as smilies and the colors will be matched to this website. I think we can even use our Voyager background!

I certainly applaud the efforts by Karen and Ngaire to do this in-house. One minor nit though. Since the chat room requires Java and the computers on board won't let you download and install software, people on cruises won't be able to access chat. I just tried it out so I know it's true. This will probably be true of all the guest access computers on all the Radisson ships. Wish that RSSC would give us the option to hook up our own laptops to their network (sigh) Hey, something to put on my comment card!

I have a feeling that we wont be able to accomadate every pc out there. Java is pretty basic to most home or work pc's. And if you don't have it, you can do the free download on your own pc's. I think we just have to choose a format that works for the majority of us :)

there were a few people on the Voyager who used their own laptops to go on line in club.com. I don't know what the deal was - Wayne arranged it for them.

A question for anyone on board, is there a charge for printing in club.com?

I get this big square with a red green and blue thing in the left hand corner. I downloaded Java and that didn't help. I will see what happens at work on Monday.

Okay my grand daughter who is all of 8 years old and named Taylor is by my side and showed me how to post a gremlin. Pretty bad when the young kids have to show the old Grandma's what to do. She is sitting with me right now saying "see it was easy". She wants me to add because I could not figure it out. Talk about easy I just never tried.

ok it worked for me, although it took me a minute to figure out where to type the message, I "chatted" with Ngaire for a minute, got in on Karen's link Luxury Cruise Chat

Those of you who are still having problems after you have downloaded the java thing and it still isn't working, you must make sure you have your Java is enabled on your security options.

Right click on the "e" internet icon on your desk top.
scroll down to properties
click on the security tab
click on custom
make sure "disable java" is not checked. I have mine set at high security

I also meant to ask, is everyone happy with the chat room? Do you all think we have a winner? Don't forget, this is the basic model. The upgraded version has easier to read text and more bells and whistles.

Seems fine to me. Do we have a "Grand Opening" day/ time?

No not yet Maria. We have to figure out all the options and get it set up first. Will take a few days. Ken is back from the station tomorrow and he and Karen will brain storm. I think Karen is a marvel getting it going so quickly today. We might need John too. Me I am useless. I am just a cheerleader. :app:

I amazed myself by getting in there last night -- first time I've tried a 'chat'. Marc was really helpful and patient -- I knew how to do NOTHING!

My Mac works....and if MY Mac works, I think ANYONE can access the site!!!! ;)

Well, that worked like a charm for me. Unfortunately only Karen and Sheri were "in the room" when I tried it, and as soon as I said hello, Sheri "left the room". And Karen must be busy working on it all, and hasn't answered me. So, I'm feeling rather unpopular - hee hee!!!

This is a GREAT addition. You guys are truly the best!!

Sorry Charlene! I was in the shower :) I am pleased that even Sheri and her Mac can get in the room!

Hopefully we will have the final version of the room up and running in a day or two.

I'll forgive you, it's nice to have you all cleaned up. Should be fun in the chat room when it's really up and running, count me in.
