The new web site Ngaire mentioned is up!

The 2 long cruises on the Voyager and the Mariner are listed for 2010.

I was just looking at the new Regent Web site. Interesting. I found it a bit challenging to find the two cruises, because, for example, I couldn't get to them by clicking on the left-hand tabs for World Cruise, Latin America, or Antarctica. (I found them via Find a Cruise by date.)

Also, the itinerary for Circle South America seemed to confirm the fact that there won't be any excursions off the ship around Antarctica because none was listed, whereas, excursions in other ports were shown. I actually called Regent about this yesterday and am waiting for an e-mail response for further clarification and confirmation.

I'm withholding judgment as to whether this Web site is much of an improvement. It certainly was slower to load some of the items, such as Special Offers.

Got it. I had the site bookmarked to my cruises so I had to go in right at rssc.com.

I changed the old url to the one that takes me to the US version - skipping the first page.

It seems to me that it's clearer than the old one - is it better? I guess time will tell.

It does list the passenger to crew ratio (447 for the V and 445 for the M)and cabin level availability for each cruise is there too. (I got up early and obviously had too much time on my hands!)

Looks to me as if you can't book tours or make dinner reservations yet.

I'm seeing red - my primary (and only) country of residence is Canada. I can't even enter the site in truth!

It really doesn't look much different to me. But I saw a "please sign in" tab and when I clicked on that it gave me an error message. Also, I got an error message for Europe/Med. Guess I'll just have to keep working at it.

Charlene, I think the US/UK versions of the website just means, do you want to see prices in Euros or US dollars. I think if I remember correctly that Regent had a European version of their website, now it looks as though you can access either version through one link.

The UK seems to quote fares in pounds not Euros. The UK does not use Euros.

LOL I didn't even think when I posted that. What I meant was there has always been two versions of the website, one in POUNDS and one in US dollars.

Eugene,
Regent can't do any shore visits in Antarctica because of very strict environmental rules. There are no docks or places to get off a tender and in fact zodiac landings are wet landinge (you step off into the water.) You need to go on the Minerva, Hanseatic or one of those expedition ships to get on land. There is a lot of concern about cruise lines like HA, Princess, Regent etc doing cruise by visits to the area because if there is any problem requiring a rescue there aren't eny ships in the area large enough to collect the passengers and crew.

One small part of the U.K. has their currency in Euro's -- Southern Ireland. Maybe this is just a glitch and they will replace UK with Canada???

Ireland is NOT part of the UK. And to many
26+6=1
is a rallying cry. ;)

Where is there a "please sign in" tab on the new site? There was one on the old site (although I was usually signed in automatically, and greeted with a welcome message); but I don't see one on the revised site. Also, what used to be the "my cruises" section is now labeled "already booked", and is under construction.

The only "enhancement" I see so far is that "My Cruises" has gone away. The "Already Booked" option takes you to a page under construction. I may be viewed as rather continuously negative about this, but come on Regent! Most companies with an Internet presence have long since figured out how to 1) make it work, and 2) introduce new features without dumping the old (or a functional replacement). The irony of all this is that it is probably an adequate web site if you are just out there looking for comparison information. Most of the losr or never delivered functionality is only likely to be noticeable to their frequent cruisers.

Has this always been in the "fare description" (bolding added)?

Quote
FARES INCLUDE all shipboard gratuities; complimentary beverages, including select wines and spirits served throughout the ship; complimentary 24-hour room service; in-suite bar setup for suites with butler service; refrigerator stocked with soft drinks, beer and bottled water replenished daily, and much more.

Marc, the bold phrase hasn't always been there, but it has been there for awhile, I think it appeared after RSSC went all inclusive.

Marc -- oops. . . you're right. . . only N. Ireland is park of the U.K. Don't know how I can forget that. When we were flying from Heathrow to Dublin, the weather map showed N. Ireland, but, the bottom half of the map was blank. . . that should have been my first clue:-)

I see what you mean Charlene. When I first saw choose country of residence as US or UK I didn't know what to enter but then of course thought perhaps it has to do with the booking and fares and not really anything to do with where you really live. Regent does need to change the wording on that though as it is confusing and irritating to non US or UK members.
I sure hope they get the "are you booked" section up and running soon as people need to pre-book shore excursions etc. and as of this morning that function is not working.

joanandjoe - it came up a couple of times when I went to rssc.com, then it didn't come up, the page with the us/uk location came up and I clicked on us, but it gave me the error page. It seems to come up different each time, and I just don't think it is working very well yet.

Thanks Karen, I get it now! I like the "Availability" column. Too bad we can't click on it and see what cabins are available.

I don't think so Peggy but there used to be two different websites, one for the US and one for the UK.

This has nothing to do with the website, but I didn't want to start a new thread.

We got a brochure from Regent today, fowarded from our old address. It was addressed to Brown & Keene Travel at that address.

Okay, the yellow forwarding sticker was directly above the B&K name; I didn't pull it off. So it was obviously covering OUR name; that's a relief. I really don't think I could pay B&K's bills. (just kidding, of course)

I hope this is website is still being fine tuned. I don't see anywhere to log in, nor where you can book excursions, dining....certainly not an improvement from what I'm seeing. The old site remembered me on my home computer which was so convenient.

This web site has many areas that need to be fine tuned. Personally I would just stay off it for a while until they get it all sorted out.

The excursions and dining options are some of the areas that are not up yet.

You will find many of the pages on my web site now are not linking to the new web. On the longer cruises they have none of the combination segment pages done at all. I am hoping these will come back also.

Lets hope the holiday period that Regent can get many of the issues with the reservations and web pages sorted out.

I hope they get the excursion sign up page on the site before the end of the year because excursions for our cruise (TA May 1 FLL to Monte Carlo) are open for booking as of 1 January.
There is a lot of work still to do on the site. For example, I looked at the St Tropez excursions, and they list all the St Petersburg ones. These will make for a long day!!
