Thought I might alert all that AA is changing and canceling flights and failing to notify traveler about change for several days.

Only found out about a flight being canceled because I happened to be looking at something else on my AA account.

Was able to cancel ticket for June and I and AA is processing the refund but has caused a huge headache re: our travel to Maui in late October. Not happy with AA.

June and I are traveling to Maui in late October as Hawaii has lifted the 14 day quarantine if you can provide a negative COVID test within 72 hours of travel.

Covid test no biggie - i am surprised there are not covid tests available in airports now! Figured that would happen but not heard that it has taken place. A break in Maui would be VERY nice.

Covid tests are a biggie in Central Florida unless you are a health care worker, first responder or elderly in nursing homes. Doctors offices don't have them and if you don't have symptoms, getting an appointment for a test is a major task. I've been told by a neighbor that getting a test on short notice can cost $200.00, and results might be slow. I hope that we can get tests at embarkation if they require them.

Texas is a marked contrast to the situation in Central Florida. Many of our pharmacies even have them - pull up in your car. All the urgent care places have them. Doctors have them. Seems to be no shortage of tests in Texas.
Maybe we need to send some to Florida! I wonder why Florida is having this problem. We got both the mouth swap and the antibodies tests (prick of blood) in 15 minutes and they used our insurance no charge. I wonder if other states are having the same issues.

Jim, apparently you can get a test at Tampa Airport; $57 for 15 minute antigen test or $125 for PCR molecular test.

State of Hawaii has developed relationships with CVS and Kaiser Health and will accept test results from either. Must be a PCR test. Antigen not acceptable. Current issue which we think will be changed but do not know how at this point is that you must sigh up for the test and get an appointment. To sign up you need to say you have symptoms. June and I do not. So CVS needs to fix this. The test needs to come back with in 72 hours from the time of the test to the time you get on the airplane to Hawaii. Means CVS needs to process the test in a very timely manner. Also currently they are not doing tests for children. My grandkids are all under 10 years. That will need to change also. We have a CVS we go by almost everyday to the grocery store that is collecting the samples for testing. Where test is actually done do not know. When June and I were test a month or so ago in the desert we know that Eisenhower Medical sent the tests to a lab that was a two hour drive away. The lab is near us in south Orange co. One of the major testing facilities.

This entire process will be interesting.

I wonder if there should be a " COVID test and results thread. If Ngaire and Karen agree Karen could move several of the above posts to the new thread. That would give people a place to post information about their issues with getting a test and or the results in a timely manner.

Sure Ralph we can definitely do that. I do not know exactly how to do that, Karen normally handles that part of the process. But I believe Julie can do it also so I will send an email to them both and hopefully get that done.

So I found out a single post cannot be moved so Karen is renaming this thread with the Covid Name.

Good solution. As we get further down the road and people are seeking to be tested etc this might be helpful.

Hi Ralph,
I know that you must be excited for your get-away to Hawaii. We are all eager to travel.

Here is a link to testing centers in CA CA Covid Testing – You can put in your zip code and find the places that have PCR testing.

Home Kits - Most of the at-home kits are not covered by insurance but are accepted for travel.
Also, there is the company where he can get at-home PCR test kits Immunitirx.com
There are additional at-home kits that are available as well, such as Pixel Labcorp .

Happy Travels!

Editing: I'm sure I'll test negative just like Tom did. I didn't want to scare anyone. Only doing it since it's available to anyone and it's Free.

Ralph, tomorrow I'm having a no cost "Rapid Covid Test" at the drive through at my local Walgreens. I'll get the results in 24 hours. You sign up on line at Walgreens\Covid
Appointment is required.

Not all Walgreens offer them but you can see if yours does.
