I am beginning to look at insurance for RIVER now that we know outbound and return dates. We are just planning on getting medical and evacuation insurance (i.e., no cancellation or trip interruption); however, I am reading stories that insurance policies now include a COVID-19 exception. The way I understand it, if you catch the virus your medical, isolation, quarantine, return medivac are not covered.

Has anyone gone through the process to look at actual options for insurance? We also have another long trip in 2021 so considering Medjet again but isn't there a limitation of 90 day max trip length?

Thanks,

Marc

We carry MedJet - we keep it active year round, whether we are cruising or not. For our World Cruise, we had to convert to the Expat policy since we would not be on US soil for more than 90 days. I don't know which cruise itinerary you are on, but the way it works is the 90 day clock is reset each time you set foot on US soil. I think you might be okay if this is the Grand Artic. Looks like exactly 90 days from Bar Harbor to New York!

Marc,
Suggest you call MedJet, they are very helpful on the phone. The suggestion of an Expat policy is a good one. I think a few years ago I did that when June and I were going to be away from states for some time. When I talked to them on the phone they were very helpful and had good suggestions. They did not try to sell me something that was not needed. I had to give them up a year or so ago do to age and getting the medical form done was just to hard and also had the heart valve issue that would be excluded. My experience with MedJet was excellent. Once you reach 75 years they require a medical form from every doctor you have seen in last year. That becomes a bit of a hassle.
