Yes we were on RSSC, it was the same voyage that Southernlady was on. I guess we did not view Morocco in the same light!!

No problem, David. The best thing about LCT is the opportunity to hear differing opinions.

Denise and JoAnn, the weather was good (as much as I can remember). The seas on the crossing were especially smooth. Spent many mornings out on our balcony.

I'll have to look back at our excursions to see what you might be interested in hearing about.
Going out of town next week so will do that after I get back.

We're so fortunate, thanks to LCT posters, to be able to share opinions and make educated choices based upon those opinions and suggestions.

I'll be very eager to hear more from you when you return, Donna.

I've been researching things to do in our CROSS ports. We are in for a lot of fun! I am not sure if I am more excited by the 8 days of intense ports or the 8 relaxing days at sea. Maybe BOTH!

I have not been to Barcelona and that port is going to be very exciting to me.

Well, it's just about a done deal - Alan and I have decided to do the entire Grand Crossing! Just put a suite on hold with Debbie at B&K this afternoon!

Anyone else care to CROSS with the CROSSers?

Would love to have you on this cruise, Nancy and Joanna!  I have over a year to work on you!

It's going to be really interesting to see how I do at sea for 8 days. The "Energizer Bunny," as Ngaire refers to me, has a hard time relaxing.

Joanna, if you win lottery will you pay for our cruise, too? Please!

I think that is how Tony and I would handle the sea days - I would have NO problem - I think we had 4 on WC and he was antsy by day 5 - it sounds like he has your energy Denise!

Joanna, I'm counting on you to win the lottery so I can do more cruises and cruise with my LCT buddies. Actually, we have a 14 day cruise on Crystal from London to NY at the end of August with 8 seadays! Like Denise, it might be hard to relax with all of the seadays but I think I can handle it.

I relate to being busy all the time, but, when I board the ship, I've learned the art of doing nothing because there is stuff to occupy your time as much as you want. The Panama Canal cruise has 5 sea days and I thought it'd be more than I could handle, but, it turned out to be my favorite cruise.

Marc posted info on his Voyager Crossing two years ago. There were daily events like a Country Fair, a Scavenger Hunt and some unusual things to keep busy, aside from the usual Trivia and Tea, and lectures.

Wow, look what happens when I'm away from LCT for a few hours. This thread takes off!

Denise, what can I say but <img border="0" alt="[vhappy]" title="" src="graemlins/icon_vhappy.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[vhappy]" title="" src="graemlins/icon_vhappy.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[vhappy]" title="" src="graemlins/icon_vhappy.gif" />

Joanna, how I wish you and Tony were on CROSS! I was getting ready to really work on you and then saw your post about your Greek isles cruise a couple of weeks earlier. Hard to try to convince you not to take that itinerary. (But JoAnn, go ahead and work on Joanna on MUSH anyway.)

Nancy, come with us, lottery or no! (Easy for me to say, right?)

Cathy, I'm very excited about these ports too. I've heard many good things about Barcelona and am happy we have an overnight there so we'll have a chance to see more than just a highlight tour. And getting to the Alhambra (I assume we will) should be fascinating. Another thing I am looking forward to is seeing the Rock of Gibraltar; I was happy to hear that the captain slowed the ship for a nighttime view of it. And, and, and ....

I guess it goes without saying, I'm pumped for this trip!

Priscilla,

I think we said quite a lot, talking yesterday! Travelling together has been in the making for a long time, hasn't it? Reality in November 2007! We are pumped, too! Alan and I have been talking about this cruise all morning.

So exciting to anticipate viewing the Rock of Gibraltar. The whole itinerary sounds so very appealing.

Nancy,

I wish you would consider the CROSSing. I want so to meet you, my long distance friend!

JoAnn,

You work on Joanna on MUSH. Priscilla and I will double-team working on Nancy!

You guys can run, but you can't hide!

Kathy,

I am more than up for the challenge of 8 days at sea. It will come and go quickly, I'm sure. We'll all be sorry to see it come to conclusion.

ChatKat -- Sorry if I misspelled your name earlier. Is it with a K or a C? I've had my name misspelled so many times -- Percilla, Pricilla, Persella, Patricia (I guess this is when someone just gives up and figures it's a stupid name) -- I try to spell others' names correctly!

Denise, an incredible journey is right! I've got to remind myself that it's 14 months away, so I don't spend all my time thinking about it. Regardless of the distant time, though, it's so wonderful to have a trip planned that we all are so excited about.

Do you all stop in Cadiz for Seville? This was my favorite stop/tour - especially if you get Fernando as your tour guide. Seville is one of the few places I would spend the money to return to spend more time. We were there on a Sunday in the pouring rain & Fernando still makes it fantastic. Most impressive sight as stated above - The Rock of Gibraltar at night. None of my photos turned out from this but the beuaty is embedded in my brain forever.
Sorry I can't be with you but I have the virtual teapot as the winner for the name, so I'll definitely be sailing with you in spirit.
Do you all want me to hound poor Nancy to death until she books? She's right here in town - lots of chances to work on her. ;)

I'm sure the sea days will be so full and fun that we will have to be dragged off kicking and screaming in Ft. Lauderdale. Lots of time to just hang out too, and get massages, and play cards, and do trivia and sleep late, and eat, and......and.......and.......! :D

We are excited about Barcelona as well. We had a very short stay there on WINE, and just barely enough time for a city tour, which was great, but I was very disappointed that we didn't get time to just walk around on our own and go to the big market center and have tapas and shop and stuff, so I doubt we will book any tours, unless we can find one short one that will give us something we didn't get before. There is a tram ride that is supposed to be great and have wonderful views. You know a bunch of us could even plan dinner off the ship that night - that might be fun. We are excited as well about the other ports in Spain, we really loved the ones we did last year. Have done a little reading in some of my books, but plan to do a lot more.
I think the Camel ride sounds fun in Agadir.

Come on Nancy & Joanna, jump in here - we need you.

Betty,

YES! We need reinforcements for Nancy!

BTW, I have a funny story. I had called to book the entire CROSS yesterday. I spoke with sweet Debbie at B&K. When I gave her my name, she asked if I was the Denise who started the Fishsticks in the Dining Room thread on MUSH. When I told her yes, she began to laugh and told me how much she was enjoying the thread! Great to know that B&K staff lurk and enjoy our antics on LCT.

So, Hi Debbie! I know you're lurking!

Betty, I didn't know you had named CROSS! If we can't have you along in person, I'm glad we'll have you along in spirit.

No, Seville isn't one of our stops. We'll have to save that for another cruise. I'm glad to know of your recommendation for that port.

I wish I could do CROSS but I can't do 2 very long cruises within a 2 month time span. Maybe I'll win the lottery, it would help if I would buy a lottery ticket. All I need is more time and money!!! Looks like you will all have to come up with something for 2008 and I can work on Larry so that we can join you!

Wow - you all together are going to have a fabulous time! I'm just catching up reading these posts. Don & I were on the Grand Crossing last November with several LCTers, David & Betty, Donna & Alan, Irene (Reney) & Carol, Debbie (Onamountaintop) & Rick, & Debbie's brother, Edward (editing to add: and John & Kathy from Cruise Critic). We had a terrific time. By the time the ship started the actual crossing, we were ready for all those sea days! We had exhausted ourselves with port intensive activities - non stop! My favorites were Barcelona, Malaga (the Alhambra), Gibraltar at night from the ship, Agadir, Casablanca, Lanzarote & Funchal. Highlights: camel ride a short distance up & down a mountain in Lanzarote (such a fun experience!), trip to a casbar (saw the daily life of inhabitants), Grand Mosque, souk shopping (a bit dicey but we loved the intrigue), & lovely Funchal. (I would love to return to Funchal. Do the basket sledge ride if you have a chance!) Also, the pottery in Funchal is wonderful.

The temperature during the crossing was VERY VERY warm! I had a lot of sweaters but didn't use them at all. At times, I thought it was down right hot. The Voyager takes the southern route, making it much warmer than one might expect. I would definitely take shorts (editing to add: and swimsuit) for that part of the trip. Hope this has been of interest. With so many friends coming together from LCT, you will not get bored! - :) Michele
