What are the medical shots and pills needed for all of us going, including Victoria Falls trip? When do we need to begin our regimen? Thanks

No shots required. CDC recommends everything for every trip it seems but required - nothing.
Malerone pills for Malaria and you wont start those until a few days before we go to Singita we will start in Cape Town and continue those daily and for one week after you return.

Andi:
We are going to get 16 pills each of Malarone. Start on Saturday before Monday arrival in Singita. Continue during Singita and Vic Falls stays AND one week after leaving Vic Falls on Sunday. That equates to 22 Apr thru 7 May, inclusive.

I got a tetanus shot last year, simply because I remembered I needed one while I was at the doctor's office. I had the Hep B series several years ago when I was volunteering in a small hospital (maverick PT dept; I could stand the sight of blood so I helped with open wound treatment).
I have a prescription for 15 Malerone.
Mark hasn't talked to his doctor yet.

Thanks. My company is the largest supplier of Maleria medicine, so I should be able to get it from our Medical dept. I was dreading potential shots. I'm a big baby.

I think that I may have mentioned this before, but while Yellow Fever is not required for South Africa, it is if you are coming into South Africa from Kenya. Anyone who may be planning a pre-trip in Kenya should keep this in mind. If you don't have a shot record with a current Yellow Fever, they will administer the vaccine at the airport.

well, I'm a big baby, too Andi & I each had the Tetnis (sp?) & Typhoid (sp?) shots last week. Tomorrow we are getting Hep A via the needle. Yech!
But the pills are awaiting my pick up at the drug store!
better safe than sorry!

Got the pills today. WOW! $125 for each of us..thank goodness insurance kicked in so we paid only about $25 each.
Had the Hep A shots today, too! I took it like a 5 year old. Andi took it like a pro. (tough to have to have shots on one's b'day!)
At least all that is over.... now on to the packing!
