I never saw a mosquito during my stay. Had one bite, but it wasn’t a mosquito bite. It may be interesting to see the area in another season. If I were doing a trip here again, I would come and go via Johannesburg and just go to a couple of safari parks. Doug and I will return. It is a life changing adventure and the parks are what make the trip worthwhile. Sth. Africa is very modern. In Capetown, I felt I was in the US. Around the falls, was the only time I felt in an alien environment. J’burg was an interesting environment which I will write about over the weekend.
Comments:
Capetown/Bishop’s Court and Cape Grace.
• If you are going to Capetown, either of these hotels can be recommended. However, I preferred Bishop’s Court. I would go to Table Mountain and Robbins Island on one day, do the wine country another and Cape Point on the other. I would also pray for good weather as much can be dampened by poor weather. You may also want to do the township tour that Ray/Penny and Gary/Anne took. Four days is enough time to see the area.
Rovos Rail:
• It was very nice, but not a good value. I would not do it again.
Sabi Sands/Singita Boulders:
• Not one complaint, except time was too short. I would love a vacation of a couple of safari resorts of the quality of Singita. It was very expensive at over $2000 per day.
Victoria Falls/Royal Livingstone:
• It was nice to see the falls, but I would not go again.
Johannesburg/Westcliff:
• I think you could have several days in this city. Everyone said to avoid it, but I preferred it to Capetown. Good restaurants and lots of things to see and do with a guide. Affordable. I would have a pre-tour or post-tour here prior to beginning a safari. Doug and I will return here versus Capetown the next time we go to a safari in Africa. The airport was fine and manageable.
