 Another Dres Code Question

We're doing a 7 day Caribbean cuise on the Whisper this spring. Part of our group is less than thrilled with a formal night in the Caribbean on a 7 day cruise - especially since we're schleppping luggage to and from San Juan. Is there a more casual venue in case we wanted to dress informally (not casual - just not suited) or would en-suite dining be our only option?

Hi Sue, on formal nights, the tux/dark suit is required in every public area of the ship. Although, I swear I thought I read somewhere that they were going to relax the code a bit at the Terrace restaurant, but don't quote me on that. They've been making changes regarding the Terrace as of late.
We're scheduled to be on the Whisper from November 2-11, and I will let you know what I find out when we return...

We were told( can't remember who) that for our 4 night Silver Whisper March 28 cruise there'll probably be 1 formal night!
I would also prefer that there wasn't one.

Sue,
I recently spoke with one of the top Sales Directors at Silversea and he assured me that on formal nights you can still eat in the Terrace Cafe without dressing up. They prefer you dress in formal attire in bars, the casino etc. but he also said no one would ask you to leave.

We just did the Cloud in Europe in Sept. On formal nights you could eat in the Terrace with sports coat and no tie. After dinner that attire was OK on the entire ship. We did that one formal night and it was great not to wear the tie. That was the night of the Captain's welcome party and I went there with no tie. I was a minority but it didn't bother me.

Personally I think the men shouldn't have to weak a tux, tie, etc., in the Caribbean, especially in the summer when it 90+ degrees during the day and doesn't cool off that much at night. However, I do think that a man dressed in a tux is wonderful looking but just glad I don't have to wear one. I guess with air conditioning it shouldn't matter though.

Thanks! It just seems silly to lug a dark suit/tux to the Caribbean in April. Thanks for the responses - I think it's looking like the Terrace cafe is a good option. We're leaving from San Juan 4/13 and it's coming up quick!
