Another great episode ... we would love to return to Egypt and may have to talk to Betty about her trip ... however, I'm not sure we could afford an A&K tour. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I'm anxious to hear folks' comments about this leg of the race as soon as the show has aired for everyone.

I never particularly liked the team that was eliminated last night, BUT would not wish that physical pain on anyone. They seemed like fairly nice people on the Early Show today. (I believe that was generic enough to not give away anything.)

This morning, I sat at the Toyota sitting area waiting for my car, they had on ESPN, and they were talking about the different teams. They were taking another spin on the game. They are now counting how many times one person says to the other, come on " ". It was kinda funny, the things that we don't pick up on, but they should were doing all the details.

I kinda figured the team to get eliminated, with that type of knee pain, I am really surprised they were able to get to where they did get.

It sure looks like that 1st place and Mirna and sis are going to go at it next week. We shall stay tuned!

My bet is on the couples, right now, all of them.

I could hardly stand to watch the brother with the knee pain when he was walking. I wonder if he had knee trouble before he entered the race?

That repeated "come on baby" from all the couple teams is getting on my nerves! How many of you call your significant other baby? Maybe it's just me.

Chip does seem genuine and an all around nice guy. If only Charla were paired up with someone else, I think I'd root for her more.
If only time and money were no object, the places we'd go...

Another fun show. Though one more "Come on, Charla!" from Myrna and I'm tossing caviar at the screen. :)

I was impressed that they got as far as they did with his knee problems. I thought that the shaft in the pyramid was going to sink them.

Karen, on their Early Show interview Marshall said that he had not had the problems with his knees prior to the race and that they have been fine since then. He referred to it as severe tendonitis.

The video interviews with the teams on the CBS website are interesting. They take a long time to load and then you have to sit through a commercial but if you are doing other things while waiting, it works! I'm not real fond of the first place "babies," Colin and Christie and the interview just clinched it. Charla and Myrna's interview is well worth listening to! They tell how much the "babies" swear. That hits the cutting room floor I guess.

Tomorrow night on Amazing Race:

"I'm Going To Jail"
Five teams remain and a cab ride to the airport becomes problematic for some teams as they battle to stay in the race. Phil Keoghan is the host of the series.

One team gets a flat tire and realizes their cab does not have a spare tire, and another team has an oil problem with their cab. Both teams are left on the side of the road at the mercy of other teams who are literally passing them by. After a disagreement over money with a cab driver, one team is hauled to the local police station for questioning and are threatened with being thrown into jail.

I don't want to give anything away either, but I now know who I want to lose! Some of these team are getting a bit nasty - I like the more positive approach!

They are in such amazing places. There may not be time to stop and spell the roses, but Chip always seems to express the wonder and delight of being there.

Could perhaps be the best episode ever, out of all the races!

I agree Margo - I have a certain level of intense dislike for a certain team.

There were a few moments in the past week that I was as interactive with the TV while watching the Olympics as I am while watching "The Amazing Race".

I've always like Chip and Kim. I'll have 3 weeks of episodes to catch up on when we get home. We leave in 24 hours! Finished packing yesterday around noon. The VCR is set for Amazing Race. Today I might actually clean our home.

I think we have all watched now....

Here's my thoughts. If you are looking for a flight out and the first airline you check says we have a flight out tomorrow, wouldn't you check other airlines?? I can't imagine why they all jumped on the first flight they found. Also...once they buy a ticket, don't they have to use it? How did they all get on the flight with the moms and the cousins?

Next thing I was curious about is why Colin's eggs were green, LOL. The rest of the scrambled eggs were the normal yellow color.

As for which teams I dislike at this stage, I think the curly hair guy and his girlfriend are #1 with Colin coming in second. As for Charla and Mirna, I will miss them as they provided the most amusing moments! :)

Colin put his eggs back into the frying pan to cook them more after he first started trying to eat them. Maybe the extra cooking contributed to the greenish color.

I think they can book additional flights if they find one cheaper - although I hope the producer is keeping track and trying to get reimbursements!

I can't stand Colin - and the editing is doing a great job of making me dislike him even more. No way should Kristie have blocked the airport door like she did!

Nicole (with curly headed guy, Brandon) should be thankful she got away with throwing the money at the bus drivers. Rude and childish, plain & simple.

The way Phil paused at the end almost had me thinking he was going to say this was a non-elimination round (which I predict for next week). Charla was great - I was definitely tearing up (with my husband snickering at me). Too bad my boss decided to come in today - ended up missing the Early Show :(

Oh man, I forgot about the early show!

I, too, thought it would be an elimination round. Did you notice that Phil got a little misty during Charla's emotional goodbye?

I just saw the Early Show. Not the greatest interview. She didn't really ask any interesting questions. I think I learned more from the CBS website videos.

I'm going to really miss the cousins, they made it a fun show to watch. I thought they were very sharp and obviously so did Colin. Who is going to do his thinking for him now? What a jerk!

It seems like that group should have been committed to the first ticket they bought since they were so busy trying to keep the cousins from getting ahead of them.

At this point I'd kind of like to see the bowling moms finish towards the head of the pack. They looked totally exhausted last night and were definitely riding on the cousin's coat tails, but I could certainly relate to how tired they must have been.

We will be running our own amazing race through airports this Sunday and will be thinking of them! I'll miss a couple episodes unless my friend can remember to tape it. We unplug all appliances here when we're away during the summer monsoons so no VCR going at home while we're cruising.

Does it get any better than:

Charla going UNDER Christie's wingspan to get into the airport.

The Colin-directed gestures and faces that Mirna and Charla shared with the camera

The unmitigated JOY of Chip and Kim with the Tanzanians

And by the way, I think the green eggs were simply a reflection of the color of Colin's face.

I am glad the cousins are gone. Next, they need to get rid of the twins and the bowling moms (can't forgive then for tricking the father/daughter). It sure would be nice for Chip and Kim to win.

Already, I just finished the full hour. This morning, I just back up the tape for the last 15 minutes to see who had lost.
I was glad for the cousins to go.

I agree, Phil did break down, and they did edit it, because, I watched again, and they cut it off when the tears started to flow.

I really enjoyed Chip and Kim enjoying the country! They took the time to sit at that person's house and soak it in.

Colin said he had a weak stomach and he sure did, it was just eggs!! He looked like he has to be in control of every stituation, and looked like he was going to hit Phil for coming in 2nd place. It looks like he ends up in jail next week.

I know I am out voted on this one, but I am pulling for Chip and Kim and the twins. The twins are coming on strong.

Is it me, or is this year more of AIRPORTS???? I am not seeing all the countryside that has been since AE- 1-4. What is your opinions?? For anyone that has watched since the first 3 years.

I'm hoping Chip and Kim win - they are the kind of people you can't help but like. It's hard to like Colin, Christy or the twins. There's just too much mean going on with them!

I guess I'm rooting for the bowling moms too, they're hanging in there, and it doesn't look easy.

Jan, I agree, too much on airports. Detours have not been critical. It just seems you have to do good (or be lucky) at airports. Hopefully, they can fix that next time and have the quickness and thinking out in the field be the critical factor.

Karen,
Have to agree with you regarding tv has been the pits. Thank goodness that AE comes out in the summer! Last summer, as I remember the networks at least brought out some new shows and tried them, this summer-- nothing! I guess we need to be the tv exec. and space out the new shows through out the year. I think they would make more money!

As there are still supposed to be three non-elimination pit stops (they said that there would be four total when the moms were last), I will (safely) predict that tonight is non-elimination.

Well, I have missed the past 2 episodes of this show. I thank you all for bringing me up to fate.

But, I must share something with you all.
We just got back from BAT... with a 2 day stop in St Petersburg - Russia.

Needless to say, we visited the Hermitage. People, it is huge... really big. If you spent one minute with evey picture, it would take you 9 years!
We saw "The Return of The Prodigal Son". It was beyond amazing. But, it was not easy to find.
This show is harder than it seems.

Doug,

That is really cool that you actually saw the "The Return of the Prodigal Son" and you can say that it was HARD to find it. I hope that someone tapped that show for you, if you did not see it.

Marc, I agree with you, I do believe that people in jail, will get off free this week. I guess they get the "get out of jail card". lol..

Tonight will definitely be a non-elimination - sorry to be giving it away for all you first season viewers. There are actually 3 per season. Gee, I am hoping that a certain team comes in last, and loses all their money before they leave again!

They sure did - if they want to win the Fast Forward!

I wouldn't put up with Colin for 2 minutes. What an arrogant, ill-mannered jerk! No way are the editors just trying to make him look like he's evil - he really just is evil!!

That show was one of the last ones I saw before we left for BAT. It gave me a mission! (grin)

The Hermitage was truly amazing. We loved it & wished that we had more time there.
as far as Russia: our view took a different tack. All the people we interacted with were just fine. But as we drove through St Petersburg and watched the local folk going about their daily whatevers, we saw no happiness in the faces. We saw merely a resignation, an understanding that they had to do whatever it was at that time.
Drive through any city or town where you live and look at the people walking about. You will see angry faces and faces that tell you that that person has a mission. You will see sad faces of people dealing with unknown problems. You will see thoughtful faces of people lost in some deep thought. AND you will see smiles on faces of people who are thinking of something good.
We saw none of that when we drove through St Petersburg. Only dull expressions. Expressions of people who have given up.
It was - to me - very sad. Then I was told that many of the sites that we had visited were not available for visit by the local citizens, only tourists.

I will not draw any political conclusions. I am not qualified to do so. But it would appear that Russia still has a way to go for its people.

I am done watching the AE on tape. I think that Colin is a very abusive person. He treats his girlfriend like dirt and she puts up with it!! Walk away from him. I wonder if after the show is over, since they keep winning the AA.com trips if they really will take a trip together or not. He should have gone to jail, and if the camera's would not have there, I am sure he would have.
yep, you sure heard correct, cut all your hair off!

Doug, I have seen what you are talking about regarding the people in St. Pertersburg looking like that. Was it also the younger people or not? Just wondering. Since the wall came down with the younger generation do they have a better mood? Did you notice still the rich/poor no middle class? Just wondering.

Okay, Karen what is up for next week??

Heading to the beach for a long weekend. cheer
