Last night was shrimp, asparagus and penne in creamy tomato basil sauce. 10 minutes from freezer to plate. Don't ya just love how far we've come from the original frozen TV dinners ! :)

After reading your menus I am so humiliated. But, I will be honest here. We had Jack-in-the-box hamburgers for dinner. Alan picked them up on his way home from playing handball. I am not worthy to be in your company :nw: :nw: :nw: :nw:

Left over Kroger chicken dinner from the deli. Popcorn sounds even better.
If I am ever very, very rich but still can't live on a cruise ship, the first person I hire will be a live-in cook!!!!!!!!

Michele, I have been known to have gummy bears and Cheez-its for dinner, I don't find popcorn odd at all!

If I am ever very, very rich I am going to hire Edwin from the Song of Flower and his girlfriend (one of the stewardesses on Navigator) to live in the casita that I will build for them. Then I will have Song of Flower service every day. Plus champagne poured each time I walk in the door!

Joanna, sure hope I cruise with you one of these days. You too, Betty. I get to meet Michele in Nov.! editing to say that Michele and I will not be eating popcorn on the Voyager, right Michele!

Donna, I wish we had Jack-in-the-Box in Florida! I definitely miss that from when we lived in AZ.

Tonight we ate out - Houlihan's! Boring, but still tasty.

Yes, you're so right, Donna. I certainly cannot wait for the Voyager in November - the "popcorn for dinner" will be a distance memory when that first champagne glass is put into my hand! We can toast to being spoiled for two full weeks WITHOUT the jack-in-the box and popcorn.....! - michele

p. s. cheez-its - love it, Karen!

Mmmm .. actually I love the popcorn movies when they have them on the Voyager. Grab the popcorn, skip the movie.

This brings back another fond memory from days spent on the trading desk. We'd have "the breakfast of champions" - a box of Dots candy and an endless stream of black coffee.

Ah, the good old days when I didn't gain weight from stuff like that! Now I've got to watch it (boo hiss). Cheers, Anne

Ok, I cooked tonight...chicken salad made with grapes, pecans and onions placed on romaine lettuce surrounded by sliced tomatoes (unfortunately not home grown) and avocados. I'm doing better!

Well we had grilled chicken, fetuccini alfredo(getting into the Italian mode) and sliced tomatoes, avacados and cucumbers.

Chicken salad sounds good Donna, will have to try it!

I didn't cook. Too much stress from trying to pick out stuff to go with the new paint. Eggs, toast and a few glasses of wine. Feeling much better this morning. Cheers, Anne

We had some "hot dog" fun tonight. I made hot dogs, we have now dubbed "summerdogs" grilled hot dogs, topped with mustard, a relish made from tomatoes, cucs, onions, and a few drops of white wine vinegar, seasoned with a little salt and pepper, and then blue cheese. They were really good - served with potato chips, and an great bottle of wine!!! Next time I will add a little diced fresh chiles from the garden.

Now I've figured out how to do this: When I'm too tired to figure out what to do for dinner, I just wait until you all on the east coast have posted what you've had & I pick one. Quick trip to the store and....voila! It's burgers on the grill, tomatoes, onions, with those jalapeno peppers that Don pickled -(but not for my esopagus). Thank you :) - Michele

Michele, that is funny! Since there are no LCTers in a time zone to the east of me, I wait to see what everyone has for dinner and then make it the next day. JoAnn's hot dogs sound really good!

Now if you all on the east coast could just have your menus ready for me, say, around 2 p.m. MY time (PDT), well, that would work much better for me!! ha ha Karen, you are too smart - no fair using them for the next day.....
but those hot dogs do sound so good AND easy enough! - michele P.S. When I'm in your time zone (in Sept.) I'll TRY to pull my weight here.... :)

Glad you'all liked our "summerdog" recipe that we just sort of put together - "try them, you'll like them" as the old Mikie commercial use to go! And of course you can use them for the next day you West Coasters, I mean why not??????? However, will see what we can do to post our menus by 5:00pm ECT, or 2:00pm WCT. Best part is the relish,of tomatos, cucs, onions, and seasonings, with optional chiles, can be made several hours ahead, so then.....all you have to do is grill the dogs, put out a bowl of potato chips, a small bowl of crumbled blue cheese and the mustard, and whalaaa .....dinner is ready as soon as the dogs are grilled!!!

We had fish. We'll be having a lot of fish, for a while. Did the Panko crumb recipe again, and this time *I* did it. It worked much better. But oh, there was a mess to clean up after.

Applebee's chicken fajitas...our local one here gives you an endless supply of fixin's (as a cheesehead, I am just happy as long as there is plenty of shredded cheese, sour cream and of course, jalapenos on the side!)

2 bowls of raisin bran. Then there is the cereal that flew all over the kitchen whiletrying to open the package, a small explosion occured. 3 hours later I keep finding it. Michelle, i know you can do better than that tomorrow night.

Hollywood Bowl Picnic tonight (and another one tomorrow to be picked up somewhere - thinking panini and Natalie Cole!)-

For our All Mozart Night we had Grilled Salmon with fresh lemon, eggplant, italian squash, purple sweet onions, tomatoes, topped with chopped tomatos, garlic, basil and a bit of olive oil. A great bottle of Pinot Grigio (for you, JoAnn)followed by a Chardonnay. Assorted bakery for dessert

For JoAnn's summer dogs, try adding a bit of celery seed to the chopped stuff. Chicago Dogs!

Kristin, spoken like a true cheesehead. cheer Our cheese drawer is always overflowing. I am making Irish stew Sunday night. One of the few dishes that I still make without cheese.
