I got this email from my mother, a breast cancer survivor (6 years "clean") and hope it inspires my dear mother-in-law, who was just diagnosed with breast cancer herself.

***

There once was a woman who woke up one morning,
looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head. "Well," she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today?" So she did
and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror
and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.

"H-M-M," she said, "I think I'll part my hair down the middle today?" So she did and
she had a grand day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head. "Well," she said, "today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail." So she did and she
had a fun, fun day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head.

"YEA!" she exclaimed, "I don't have to fix my hair today!"

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Kristen,

That is beautiful. I hope that your mother in law's journey finds her at peace with her choices and surrounded by loving friends and family to hold her up during her battle.

Oh Kristin I am so sorry to read about your MIL! I, too, hope she takes the attitude your Mom has had all these years.

I thought you might like this one as well. I got it today and unfortunately the sound on my computer is kaput.

Kristin: I am sending many good thoughts for your Mom and mother in law - positive attitude and sense of humor needed when you lose your hair - I kept telling myself "it's just hair it'll grow back" while I was :mecry: :mecry: :mecry: :mecry:

Dear Kristin:

My prayers go out for your MIL and admiration to your mother. She is a wise, strong woman.

One of my life goals is to help the funding to find a cure - I've walked hundreds of miles and will walk hundreds more if it will help women like your mom and mother in law.

Please give them my best wishes.

Kristen, thank you for that beautiful e-mail message. Not only is it an inspiration for a positive attitude for those who are battling cancer but that final line is a message we all have to take to heart. I pray that your mother remains cancer free and for successful treatment for your MIL to also join the cancer survivors group.

Kristin - What a wonderful little story, and it applies to many things in life.

Prayers and thoughts for your MIL as she goes thru her treatment, and prayers that your Mother will remain cancer free.
