Finally back to my normal life (sort of)....it's been so hectic here that I haven't had time to get excited about our U2 concert tomorrow night in MIA! I won't say they are the Beatles or Stones of my generation (for fear of a virtual stoning).....but, back in the day they were my favorite. I am a true product of the 80's.....love the music, cheesy hair bands or otherwise, and the clothes....I think I could give Karen a run for her money with the big hair pics :D
I just hope they perform their old stuff, rather than only the new songs.

Kimmi - I happen to like the last 2 albums a lot -- though I would admit that their best album is still probably Joshua Tree for me. Amanda is a true U2 head - asks me to tape stuff for her on Tivo whenever I hear about a live performance on TV. She says to tell you that she's jealous and wish that they would come to Hawaii. :)

I like U2 very much, Kimmi. I hope you and John have a great time.

I admire Bono's tenacity and committment to political/social issues.

Well, you wouldn't get stoned by me for saying they are the Beatles or Stones of my generation. They have been my favorite band since I fell in love with their first American hit, "Walk Away", and then saw them, mullets and all, at a local bar in Huntington Beach, CA on their first US tour. I've seen them several times in concert since, although I just realized how LOOONG it's been -- the last time I saw them was on their Zoo-ropa tour, which was my least favorite concert of theirs. My favorite concert was the one to promote Joshua Tree...whoa, I'm REALLY dating myself!

I hope you have a fantastic time!

Kimmi

We just caught them last Wed. at the Oakland arena...it was my 4th U2 concert and probably the best one so far for me...probably because this time I was about 15 ft away instead of nosebleed and because Peter was with me...it is VERY heavy on the HTDAAB (the latest album) but it will have plenty of Joshua Tree on it, if you like it. Little to no Acthung Baby, Zooropa, Pop or ATYCLB...however a coworker went the previous night and when we compared notes, the song sets were a little different...personally I think we got the better one, because they played Bad to close out the concert!

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends ~~M. Angelou~~
