I hope that doesn't mean even higher fares.
Still, such fun to plan and play with.

Ngaire, fantastic news about the free excursions for 2010 sailings. I know that you thought it might be coming, and it's wonderful to have it confirmed. I was hoping that you'd have more information on the excursions after the Regent meetings in LA, and you did. Anything else exciting (in addition to the refurbished Voyager)?

That sounds great, certainly a reason to check out those 2010 itineraries when they come out.

I will do a highlight post of some of the key positives that came out at the meetings. I am going to wait until I receive the summary from Regent so I do not forget anything. It was a very positive experience.

The Voyager looks good too. I will cover that at the same time.

Just an quick note. For 2009 most excursions are included. Some of the more expensive concierge excursions are being reduced. These are examples of the differences in pricing for expensive concierge shore excursions. This is more generous than I had anticipated it would be.

JUNEAU - Dog Sledding on the Mendenhall Glacier via Helicopter
WAS $599.00 per person
NOW $299.00 per person

JUNEAU - Mendenhall Glacier & Evening Whale Watching Quest
WAS $249.00 per person
NOW $39.00 per person

KETCHIKAN – Misty Fjords Seaplane Adventure
WAS $299.00 per person
NOW $79.00 per person

SKAGWAY – Adventure to Glacier Point by Speedcat
WAS $339.00 per person
NOW $69.00 per person

Do you think Ngaire, that the free excursions will mean that RSSC will fill the buses instead of just taking 20 or so on a bus as has been the case in the past (well except for the excursion we did in Sorrento last year, that bus was definitely full, although we didn't have very far to go)?

Cant answer any of these questions. This is all a "work in process".

They just looked at a few excursions to give examples of what would be offered. WE will have to wait until the excursions come out 120 days prior for answers for individual cruises.

The whole bus or how they will handle it is also still a work in process. They will be learning a lot on these first 35 sailings and any issues that come up will be perfected for the full 2010 year program.

For folks not sailing on a free excursion cruise will the more expensive concierge excursion rates be reduced or are these lower rates just being offered on the cruises with the free excursions?

Just on the 35 dates included. There are no changes to any other cruises in 2009 as far as the excursions are concerned.

We got a mailing from Regent today about the excursions. I am so jealous. We cannot go on Regent cruises anymore because Marty is on dialysis and it is not available on Regent cruises. The cruise lines that do offer it are not the ones that we want to go on.Sooooooooo it is land vacations for us now. I really miss Regent.

Bette--

Regent misses you too. A land vacation is still a wonderful time for the two of you to be together.

Ngaire, I know we're all peppering you with questions, but I'll jump on the bandwagon: do you know if the Tracy Arm excursion is being offered on Mariner cruises in Alaska this summer? It's been *by far* the most highly-recommended Regent excursion in Alaska here and on CC, but it's absent from all the excursions listed on the Regent web site for this year's cruises. And it's not on your list above. Did Regent somehow drop it, or lose this excursion to a different cruise line? I'm really hoping it will still be available this summer. Thanks.
