We did Alaska 1st week of June the first time, and I would do it again earlier rather than later. Ketchikan is always rainy and it was actually a nicer spring rain the first cruise. Also things were greener and the mosquitos were fewer. Weather is iffy - just that part of the world - any time. You risk having ice issues earlier and you risk warmer weather later with major mosquito issues. Take your pick.
