Somehow I totally missed this post. My heart goes out ot you and your entire family. Hopefully you can make the trip, knowing your MIL is receiving 24 hour care. You are in my thoughts. A strong support system makes all the difference in the world. Don't be shy about asking for help so you dodn't stress yourself out too much. Take care. And think about your trip as much as possible.
