They're called "screaming, hairy" armadillos and are native to the mountains (usually the northern desert) of Chile. Unlike the armadillo species of Florida or Texas, they don't try to roll into a ball when frightened bit rather turn and hiss ("scream"). Also unusual, is that they often live inside carrion (ugh).
