OK thats makes some sense that the flights are paid for by others and the "free" miles will be for personal use. I agree re the perks for elite status, I have gold medallion with Delta and the "fast track" lanes at security is alone worth it, not to mention the free baggage, upgrades etc. Since I travel more than he, my husband flies on the "free" tickets and we pay for mine in order to maintain that. Just cant imagine 17 million miles flown tho!?
