For those who are familiar with the layout of the Voyager, a new forward viewing station is being added on Deck 12. A railing is being added to the area forward of the slanted glass windscreens... right over the top of the Observation Lounge.
This will provide a prime outdoor viewing/camera area looking forward...something the Voyager has lacked when compared to the Mariner.
Lars Olsson told me that Capt. Dag was having it done on his own...without seeking Miami's approval.
I like his agressive attitude..."don't ask a question if you can't stand a 'no' answer" ... or, "better to take action and seek forgiveness later."
Construction is underway and looks to be about halfway complete.
But I don't think I would have been using it much this afternoon in our run up the river entering Shanghai...it was cloudy and 50 degrees...with a very stiff wind even at slow speed. I was thankful for the protection that the windscreens provided...which wasn't too much. But what a sight! We are on the port side facing Pudong and the lights are coming on...should be a great 3-1/2 days!
