We are sailing on Seabourn Quest from Ft Lauderdale to Sydney, Australia beginning on Jan 6th. Down through the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal, to French Polynesia, where there a couple of stops that are new to us, over to New Caldonia, then Brisbane and finally Sydney. We decided to try Seabourn because Regent didn't have any cross Pacific itineraries and we wanted to use a cruise to get to Zealand for an extended land trip. We decided to give Seabourn a try.

After Sydney, we are flying to Auckland where we begin a 25 day driving/train trip through both the North and South Islands. Found a great travel site that has done all the work with rental cars, accommodations (we decided to do bed and breakfast) and some excursions we thought important to book ahead.

Susan,

You will have a great cruise. This is a wonderful itinerary.

On your post-cruise, be sure to drive on the Great Open Road to the 12 Apostles.

You bet! We're looking forward to it. I don't think it's a full ship, either, lots of space left - so should be a great time.

Susan, I was on the Navigator two years ago. We went over a week early, spent 3 nights north of Cairns, then back to Sydney for three nights. We had the best time. I'd go back anytime!! You all will have "the best" time!

Beth, we've got a great drive trip planned, through the Smoky Mts & Murray River, down to Melbourne, then onto the Great Ocean Rd to Adelaide. We'll fly back to Sydney from there. I absolutely wanted to see the Apostles!

Susan,

The drive from Melbourne to Warnambool was long, plus we returned to Melbourne that evening. Geelong has some neat architecture. If you can, stop in Apollo Bay for lunch. It was a fun touristy town. Along the way, our guide made a surprise stop and we saw koalas in the trees. I'm trying to find it and if I do I will private message you the location. It was so much fun because our guide let us discover them on our own. That was very special for us.

Looking at the map and reading around a little, it could have been near Port Hawdon around the Kennett River where we saw the koalas.

Greetings, All!

Keith and I have been surviving on Raman Noodles and toast for a year wink but it will all be worth it when we replace the AUSSIE travelers in Sydney (hopefully, we can meet for drinks since ya'll dock for an overnight stay?!)

Anyhoo - we're terribly excited. As many of you know, Keith is an Aussie, so we're flying in (upstairs!) a week early to hang with the rellies prior to embarkation. I don't think anyone has posted the continuing itinerary after Auckland --> Sydney, so here it is:
JAN 24 Sydney 8:00 PM
JAN 25 Cruise the Coast of Oz
JAN 26 Brisbane 8:00 AM 7:00 PM (Australia Day!!!)
JAN 27 Cruise the Coast of Oz
JAN 28 Whitsunday Island 8:00 AM 7:00 PM
JAN 29 Townsville 8:00 AM 7:00 PM
JAN 30 Cairns 8:00 AM 8:00 PM
JAN 31 Cooktown 8:00 AM 4:00 PM
FEB 1 Cruise the Arafura Sea
FEB 2 Cruise the Arafura Sea
FEB 3 Darwin 9:00 AM 7:00 PM
FEB 4 Cruise the Timor Sea
FEB 5 Komodo, Indonesia 12:00 PM 6:00 PM
FEB 6 Bali (Tanah Ampo) 10:00 AM
FEB 7 Bali (Tanah Ampo) 8:00 PM
FEB 8 Cruise the Java Sea
FEB 9 Semarang 7:00 AM 5:00 PM
FEB 10 Cruise the Indian Ocean
FEB 11 Singapore (and around 12+ hours wait time for flight LOL)

Thrilled to bits! Anyone joining us or staying on-board to Beijing?

Cheers! wave
Ashlyn

Ash, a lot of us (Joanna included) did almost the same cruise a couple of years ago after our TUT cruise was cancelled suddenly after we boarded in Athens and this was one of the replacement cruises offered.

25 nights instead of the 15 we paid for the original itinerary It was so much fun! We ended up in Beijing instead of Singapore. I just loved it! A highlight was a couple of days in Sydney before we boarded. And you will have a week! Enjoy it all, especially for Keith seeing his family again, and you will be with the locals!

Ash - you've got company!

We're flying in a couple days early to Melbourne and will watch a few days' of the Aussie Open tennis tournament. We will fly to Sydney on the 24th to board Voyager.

There will be approx 14 boarding; I only know 4 of them for sure at this point. Should be a 'mucho gusto' good time.

We're leaving in Singapore.

Cheers, Anne

Woo Hoo! Looking forward to meeting you, Anne. Any group of LCT folks is a fun one, as I'm sure you already know. Hopefully, Linda will have a get-together meet/greet for sail away. Leaving at 8pm is going to be fantastic & if the ship's dock stays the same, we'll have to sail out under Harbour Bridge!! Very cool.

Off topic - if you are in Bucks County - #1, we're neighbours & #2, I hope you stay safe and sound through this 'Frankenstorm' business we're about to get.

Cheers!
Ash

We're on United ff tickets for the Sydney to Singapore sailing. Much to my surprise this morning, United had changed the date on our reservation back from Singapore. United had changed the routes on that reservation; only Feb 10 or Feb 15 were available to go home via Hong Kong. I called this morning and was able to rebook us on the Singapore-Tokyo-Newark routing on Feb 12.

If by chance you've also booked with United ff tickets, consider checking your reservations on line for changes.

Cheers, Anne

Hi Marcie - It's SO up our alley. Building codes about to be finalized in the next week; hopefully can turn contractor loose while we are gone.

Heading out a few days early to see Aussie Open 2nd week play. Fly to Sydney to meet the ship. Much needed break around here.

Hope all is well on your end

xox, Anne

Yes, haven't look here for awhile, but, we board the Sapphire Princess for a 14 day r/t LAX to Hawaii on the 19th, then, after two day visit to friends in Rancho Mirage, we join Queen Elizabeth, Febr. 4th, for 36 days r/t LAX to New Zealand.
Lots of wonderful sea days!

Barely worthy of mentioning but we're going on our 3rd annual Angel's Fan cruise on Carnival Inspiration this Friday-Monday. We enjoy mingling and meeting players and coaches, food is good. price is right, and best of all NO flights, grab our carry on and away we go since we sail out of Long Beach.

It always coincides with our anniversary so it's a fun weekend (like we need an occassion to go have fun). I guess we're grown-up groupies cheer

Why is it barley worth mentioning??? You guys always have a blast on that trip, and any cruise that you enjoy no matter what the price is worth talking about..

Hope you have fun once again..

Best to you both.

We returned yesterday and had a lot of fun. As long as you don't raise the bar too high, these weekend trips can be a nice little get away especially if you don't have to fly.

We met lots of nice people and one of the highlights (only to be appreciated if you follow baseball or live in SoCa) was meeting and dining 3 nights with former Angel player and AL 1993 rookie of the year Tim Salmon (nicknamed King Fish and Mr. Angel) , his wife and their twins celebrating their 13th birthday. It was interesting learning inside info but most importantly we had a lot of fun. We met other players and coaches as well and LOTS of fellow Angel fans !
