We just got off the Navigator on Monday. It was a lovely trip to the Caribbean with slightly cooler weather than we were expecting. Had the joy of meeting up with an old friend in Roatan (we used to work together). He has dreadlocks, guess we looked silly together, but who cares?
I think the Navigator is a great ship. Got on on a Friday. The next day, the earthquake hit in Chile. By late that afternoon, we were in big waves: 16-18 feet high and things were rocking. We skipped the port in Grand Cayman (boo! :( ), but headed into Cozumel for two days. They made new shore excursions available for Cozumel for the first day. Very quick thinking on their part, I think. Trouble was, our host flew into Grand Cayman to meet the ship, and of course there was no ship! You can't seem to get to Coz from GC very easily and he went back to Miami and then to Atlanta to meet up with us, just barely making it before we sailed on the second day in Cozumel.
The service was lovely. The last morning's breakfast was a little rushed in La Veranda.
We went with a huge group and were unable to see many shows, go to the block party, etc. as our meetings always seemed to interfere.
Anyway, we had great service in Compass Rose (although did see one table where it was less than perfect one night) and Prime 7, which we were able to go to on two evenings was divine. If you like foie gras, theirs is really good.
It was a 10 day cruise, but they still put out those bon voyage things on our bed when we got back the last day and seemed to expect us to pack up and get off their beautiful ship! Even if I didn't want to.
Looking forward to the Baltic on the Voyager in July! wave

Elena, I am glad that you had a good cruise but sorry you had to skip ports!

We got back Tuesday morning from the cruise. The storm was unbeliveable, at one point I thought the ship was going to crack in two the bang was so loud.

I found the service in compass rose below par, the couple next to us got up and left after waiting 20 minutes for their salad course. The following night the group we were sitting with became rather vocal about it.

The third time we waited a long time for entrees and coffee but I just told myself hey...I'm not cooking and I have nowhere else to go so waiting a little while is ok. Otherwise the service was excellent and I felt very pampered.

We were able to dine in Prime 7, however it was the night of the storm. Unfortunately I caught a glimpse of the horizon and my stomach went up/down along with it. I looked at my husband and said..."its time to go", the waiter cleared a path rather quickly for me, thank god I made it back to the suite.

I do love the ice cream bar, I only allowed myself 1 trip there because its one of those things I am too fond of and the medications I'm on have added 60 pounds to me already!

Hubby loved the no formal night, however I did have to convince him that his slippers were not appropriate attire one night.

I think the vibration is worse than it was before. I felt it from the casino (where I won 400 bucks, YIPEE) all the way to the rear of the ship. I don't ever recall it being that bad.

I'll have to start saving for the next one, in the meantime I will ponder the wonderful options.

Mary do you think vibration was due to storm??? Or just bad in any condition? I did not suffer from any vibration problems for 27 nights on Navigator 18 months ago? Forget date could have been longer - but other issues that made me very unhappy on Nav- sorry to hear this and congrats on casino win!!!!!

Joanna, I think it is just there, however it is worse in weather. It could be that I was paying more attention this time.

Thanks to both ladies for your Navigator information. Tom and I board her 4 weeks from today for the 5 night shortie and we can't wait. :) Just hope we have smoother seas than y'all did!

Mary, I felt some vibration on SAMBA in LaVeranda and Show Room (that was the worst) but luckily never midship where our cabin was. Sue, I know you'll have a great trip and can't wait to hear all about it.

Thanks for the Nav. info. We'll be going for 11 nights next month. We're mid ship 9th deck. Hopefully all will be ok.

Nana - we were midship on Deck 9 (933 to be precise!) last May, well before the refit. We had no feeling of vibration at all. We did "rock adn roll" one night between Barcelona and St Tropez (and never made it to St Tropez because of the Mistral and not being able to anchor) and we felt that. But it was just a storm at sea, nothing more.

Just booked Panama cruise in April 2011. We are cabin 842. Has anyone stayed in that cabin. It's right over the casino and is mid-ship. I'm wondering about the noise fromt the casino and the vibrations.

Welcome to the board, Marsha! You shouldn't have any problem with vibrations mid ship. I can't remember if I have ever stayed over the casino, maybe someone else can answer that part.

We sailed on Navigator this Feb and were in cabin 1114. Didn't feel much vibration except for one night whern we were "rockin and rollin'". There was A LOT of vibration in La Veranda one lunch when were were pulling out of port, then it stopped. The first night in Compass Rose there was some vibration, but not so much the rest of the week. We had a great cruise, no complaints!
