Hello from SAND!

Posted By: KarenS

Hello from SAND! - 12/11/06 06:54 PM

We just enjoyed our first dinner onboard. The ship looks BEAUTIFUL! Our room looks as though the ship was brand new. The carpets, draperies, bed linens are all brand spanking new and look fantastic.

Dinner was very good. I had the beef consome (sp) and for Pete's sake, it was out of this world. I know how odd that sounds, it's just beef broth for but it just had the best flavor. Mark had the Delmonico, he really enjoyed it and I had the chicken breast stuffed with prusuitto (spelling again!!) and mozzerella.

We spent some time visitng with Guiseppe today and he told us that the spa and gym have been redone and they both are spectacular. We haven't made it there yet but plain on checking it out tomorrow.

Right after sail away (we went up to Claudia's cabin for a drink) was the block party in the halls. The halls were FILLED with people chatting and getting to know each other.

As for my fellow Sandies, everyone is fantastic! I couldn't adore Betty K and her hubby Larry more, if I tried! Claudia is a hoot, Don (so funny!!!) and Diana are just so much fun to talk to!

Julie and Chester (juicyjuju) are both just wonderful. Kathy and Frank, who I have met before are just so gosh darn great.

I haven't met Tina yet but I hope to tomorrow.

Then there is the Shiek and his harem. When Marty saw first saw me, he gave me the bear hug of all bear hugs!!! My feet didn't touch the ground for at least a minute and then I had to hug him all over again for Sheri!

Ngaire's son Clay and his wife Brooke and just charming! If Clay is talking and you are not looking at him (and what a handsome man he is!!) you would think that it was Ken talking. He sounds JUST like him!

I know I am overlooking someone but I had several glasses of wine at dinner and my memory isn't the best, lol. Whoever I have forgotten, I will comment on in my next post. I am just so glad to have met all these new LCT people for the first time, it really is very special to me.

Please forgive all the typos, there is no spell check on this computer smiles

Just know, we all made it here in one piece and if the rest of the cruise is as good as the first day, we are all in for a treat!

It sounds so wonderful! Keep enjoying and when you have time tell us more!

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/12/06 06:07 AM

Karen - thanks for your great descriptions! I've been having major spelling problems this morning. Is the LCT server lonely for you & taking it out on our collective keyboards? LOL!!

More block parties? That sparks an idea. How about a virtual block party in the LCT chat room some evening? It can be the BYO B&K party (bring your own bottle and keyboard)! It will have to wait until all the SANDees are home.

Have a wonderful time. I'm especially glad to hear the Navigator is so ship-shape. I missed the part about the bear hugs with Guiseppe .. was that another keyboard karma issue? ;)

Enjoy, Anne

First thing I did this morning was to look for details of SAND. I sure wish I was there but for the first time in years I have a killer cold and cough I am glad I am miles away from everyone. Would be terrible to bring this onboard.

Keep the posts coming so we can live the trip with you.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/12/06 04:25 PM

Oh gosh, there are not many other than Ngaire that post from the ship! I for one, who contributes to the board quite often, get on the ship and leave it to others! Perhaps we should leave them alone and not make them feel they "owe" us! Even if we think they should! I think only Ken & Ngaire post from these short cruises! Of course, Marcie does on sea days on long cruises. Maybe we need to give them a break to enjoy the cruise! Not like they have many sea days.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/12/06 07:11 PM

There are no hurricanes in the Caribbean to take out the internet. Even if they are sunburned, overserved or overfed, no excuse. I think a designated seamailer should have been named before they left the dock. They are just toying with us. Not funny SANDies.
Posted By: Ngaire

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/12/06 07:19 PM

Actually I am anxiously awaiting more news and it makes me realise when I put Ken through the wringer to post pictures it is worth the trouble.

It is SO MUCH FUN to read Sea Mail I really relish it, and a group cruise like this just really makes it so much more fun to share in the cruise with everyone through posts.

So Sandies will return I am sure. If you are having trouble posting directly just send me or anyone an email - we will post!!!!

Maybe in the morning???

Anyone home???

I hope we hear more from Karen, our LCT Princess...I think she's our best bet, Don is a close second because he's great at keeping in touch. Kathy...we'd love to hear from you and I'm sure you're taking lots of great pix for Don to post when he gets the card reader. Wendy already said she wouldn't post so no hope there. Guess they just like keeping us in suspense!

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/13/06 03:37 AM

Here I am!! Sorry about the lack of seamail but we just spent from 3pm till this morning in our room with sea sickness, lol. Don't tell Mark I told you this, but he visited the porcelin neptune shrine twice last night :(

We had to skip the private island yesterday do to the wind so today we are docking at Grand Turk, an unscheduled stop.

I am sorry to be so short with my mail this morning but we just docked and I am anxious to get OFF the ship, lol. I will check in later on today. Maybe we can talk Don into posting some pix of our group dinner, which is tonight in Portofinos with the LCT cocktail party first. Let's hope the seas don't churn up again, I don't want to miss tonights festivities!!

xoxo
I will check in later on today again.

Hi Karen and Betty,

Thanks for reporting in. As you can see by the posts previous to yours, we were all eager for seamail.

So very sorry to hear that you and Mark had a miserable bout with seasickness, Karen. Hopefully, no more rough seas from hereonin.

Wishing all of you an enjoyable time in Grand Turk!

Looking forward to more reports and much anticipated pix of all the SANDees!

Karen and Betty-
Thanks for checking in - Karen I hope you and Mark stay happy and healthy for the rest of the trip - I know how miserable it is to be on a wonderful cruise but too sick to enjoy it! Take care of yourselves - and check in if you get time, but above all relax and have a wonderful cruise!

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/13/06 08:15 AM

We were rocking and rolling so much last night that we needed a saddle to stay in our seats! I can't remember any rockier seas on any past cruises I have been on. We pitched and rolled from all day and night, we are all just delighted we have stopped for a spell!

Grand Turk was gorgeous! Much nicer than I remember last time we were here. Walking distance from the ship was a beautiful beach with lounge chairs and cabanas. We spent several hours there and we both got a little fried! Probably the mango daiquiris at Margaritaville didn't help, either!

For all those screaming for pictures, I will try and talk to Don tonight to see what we can do. I know, when I am the one left at home, I am the first to beg for pix and I know how impatient I can be!

That's it for now, I will post again after Portofino's and the B&K party.

PS
Please forgive any typos!!

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/13/06 08:43 AM

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/13/06 09:22 AM

Hi Everyone! Internet is spotty. I'll type fast so it doesn't crash. LOL! We are having a wonderful time but boy are we rockin and rollin. I think everyone has been feeling the effects of the waves.
Had a great dinner the first night we arrived with Frank and Wendy, Frank and Kathy and Don and Diana. Then we did some dancing in every place that was open, even in the piano bar where I don't think you're supposed to dance. We had a lovely time in there chatting with Bette and Larry.
We had a wonderful fish barbeque with live music at the pool today. Chester has gone to the chocolate demonstration. I don't like chocolate, that's why I'm here. Lol!
I played trivia with Frank and Kathy and Don and Diana and Phyliis yesterday. We didn't win but we got an honorable mention. ;)
I'm off to the balcony to drink some champagne and read my scandal rags. Oh, life is tough....
More later after the infamous B & K cocktail party and Portofinos. I'm still not hungry after the waiter brought me a DOUBLE portion of lobster last night and a vanill milkshake by the pool today :)

Do you think if I sent my card reader by carrier pigeon it would arrive in time for us to get some photos out of this group??

Thanks for checking in, Julie! You're not missing much in the Bay Area. It's been cold (50's) and rainy. I'd take rockin' and rollin' over this!

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/13/06 10:52 AM

Suzanne - strap that reader to your pigeon's leg immediately and send him on his way. :D
Posted By: ChatKat...

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/13/06 11:02 AM

Gee, how come Don didn't ask me for a card reader? I haven't even taken my camera out nor have we been off the ship. Did a bridge tour yesterday and have been having so much fund. Had a wonderful spa day today and relaxed. The massage therapist remembered me as did several of the staff. Always good to feel at home.

Great fish BBQ at the pool for lunch over looking the beach at Grand Turk. Having a great time with John Barron and we were invited to Dinner with Giuseppe last night, what a charmer. I have some news but I promised I would not share it just yet - who's birthday it is today. Oh and the new Captain is eye candy and equally as charming. Dinner at Portofino's with the group. Played in the Blackjack Tourney and lost ;-(. This cruise is absolute perfection. Off to the Chocolate tea.
Camera will be at the B & K Cocktail party tonight.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/13/06 12:48 PM

I have the pictures taken, but am having issues getting them downloaded. I thought I had posted my SeaMail earlier and even that did not show up. I will try to get some up tonight.

Yesterday was a pretty rough day. Lots of people got seasick, moi included.

Other than that we are having a great time. Food is great and so is the service. Ngaire was right, this is so much like the Silver Whisper. Just take the Whisper and add one deck.

We skipped Princess Cays yesterday due to weather and headed for Grand Turk instead. What a fabulous day. We went on the snorkel trip with Debbie and Russ and Wendy and David. What a great port.

Getting ready for the party here in a few minutes, then all of us are heading to Portofinos for dinner.

Supposed to be another rough night, but this time we popped some seasick pills ahead of time, so we are prepared.

More later!

Ciao for now!

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/13/06 07:06 PM

Don, you and Kathy need to get together to coordinate picture sharing! She is the expert, and probably has more equipment with her than you would ever need to get this done! We land locked unfortunates are DYING to enjoy some pix, as you had your Portofino dinner tonight! Let's hope you are enjoying calmer seas now. Being seasick takes the wind out of my sails faster than anything!

Thanks everyone on SAND for posting! It takes effort to wait for a computer, and if seas are bad, not a fun thing to do, so we are grateful!

I'm not going to mention the P****s....you've been nagged enough! ;)

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/14/06 04:04 AM

I think after this experience, we news-hungry and travel-deprived souls at LCT are going to have to demand that every group appoints someone responsible for taking and posting pictures and documenting all post-worthy behavior (depraved and otherwise) before departing. I guess the other option would be sending Ken on every trip, but Ngaire might not like that. Karen-next cruise maybe you should award some virtual photo equipment to the person who selects the name, instead of a tea-pot!

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/14/06 05:55 AM

Here is the gossip from last night. We had our B&K cocktail party last night and beforehand, we were bobbing like a cork in a washing machine again so I wasn't sure if I would make the party, let alone dinner. Well, I dragged myself to the party and once I caught glimpse of the Shiek, I felt much better! Actually, the wonderful and quite handsome Captain McNeill decided to sail around the rough seas to give us a break. This meant arriving late in San Juan but I think NO ONE cared about that, we were just delighted not to be green at the gills.

Back to the Cappy for a minute, he is delightful and easy on the orbs, Captain Dag might have a wee bit of comptition from him! One fun thing, at sailaways from ports, bag pipe music is played outside, I love that!!

Ok, back the the party. Everyone that I hadn't met yet was there, including Tina (tallship) and Peter. I can say we are adding lots of names to my lovely new friends list!!

Dinner in Portofino's was GREAT! I loved seeing Mona Lisa and Gerry again! The food, dare I say, was better than I remember in Don Vitos.

After a rather rocky night, we just docked at San Juan and I am eager to get off onto land again smiles

I have been begging Don to post some pictures and as soon as he figures it out, I am sure he will.

I took video in Portofinos last night but that will have to wait until we get home to post.

That's it for now, I will check in later!!

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/14/06 06:45 AM

Hi all!

When we were in the check in line, we were chatting with these nice people. They said " You know Debbie with Brown and Keene? We are her father and step mother". We said we were glad to meet them and looked forward to meeting Debbie and Russ on board. She said oh no, they are not on this cruise. Last night at the lovely B&K party I told Debbie that I thought it was nice of her to invite us, considering that we had spoiled her surprise!

Dinner in Potofino was great. We had 3 large table of LCTers, B&Kers, etc. Good food, good company, and good entertainment!

Glad to be in San Juan today and have a little land time since the seas continue to be pretty rough!

More later!

Karen and Betty...thanks so much for checking in. It shoulds like it a bit rocky in Caribbean right now...hope it calms down soon!

Isn't Mona Lisa the BEST! She was the star of the crew show last year - well, actually they are all stars, but she has a fantastic voice.

Glad you've managed to have a good time inspite of all the rocking and rolling.

If the photos come when you get home all if forgiven! LOL - are we a bunch of nags or what????

Wishing you smooth seas!

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/14/06 12:25 PM

I know how anxious you guys are for seamail. I know I always look for it.

During the captains intro - Capt. McNeil was wearing a kilt in the McNeil tartan. Made quite a dashing figure. He attended the B&K Cocktail party last night but without the kilt :(

As you can gather from the others, it has been very rough seas. I have NEVER suffered from sea sickness but I got it too (or I drank too much wine) but Don and I think it is the rough seas.

The ship rocks back and forth all night with the periodic thud. I don't know what is worse back and forth or side to side :)

I even got the seasick pills from reception and it helps but makes me very tired. (The instructions tell you that the effects of the pill will make alcohol consumption worse. So only a little wine for me last night.) I was so tired that I missed the show last night who were Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand impersonators.

Won Wheel of Fortune this AM. YEAH. But I abdictated our trivia team because there were too many and the person writing down our answers, did not hear what we told her to write and she just guessed and guessed wrong. So we lost to the other SANDIES by one point :) But I got two tokens for Wheel of Fortune :)

Walking around San Juan this afternoon, I got so tired I had to get back to the ship to take a nap. Feeling much better now.

Will try to post more later.

Thanks for the much anticipated seamail, Karen, Betty and Phyllis!

Sounds like a very fun time, despite the rocking and rolling! Hopefully, smoothe seas ahead!

Congrats on your winnings, Phyllis!

Don and I are here in Club.com. I just uploaded some photos. I will have to edit the post to insert them. Marcie, I never did anything with my MUSH photos. I've been too busy with work. I am doing some photography professionally and I haven't had much time with my day job keeping me ultra busy.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/14/06 01:07 PM

There they are. Now that didn't take long did it? LOL

Even inspite of the weather, this has been a fantastic cruise. Last night was the absolute best. We had such a great time meeting everybody last night at the B&K reception. Then we headed to Portofinos for the LCT group dinner and had so much fun. And if that wasn't enough, we then headed to Karaeoke.

Today we were late getting into San Juan, but what great weather we had today. Hopefully, the wind will die down some and we won't have rough seas tonight. We set sail at 11pm for St. Thomas.

Tomorrow I have a two tank dive and Diana is going to do some shopping. It may be the most expensive dive trip I have ever taken! LOL

More later.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/14/06 01:11 PM

I'm so glad y'all are having a great time!

Is it just me, or are those pictures so tiny they are impossible to really see? I can't tell who might be whom.

Kathy, do you suppose we'll ever get to see your MUSH pictures? I know everybody was waiting for them.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/14/06 01:14 PM

Okay, now that I've done my job as unoffical LCT Photographer (These are Don's photos)I can report in.

This is the perfect cruise - great people, incredible crew, and the ship is tip top. If only the weather would cooperate but we booked the ship as our destination and we couldn't ask for more.

We played trivia with TallShip and Don and Diana and we're having dinner with them tonight. We're in Puerto Rico late so everyone is off and the ship is very quiet. We came in late to avoid weather. Don and Diana and I went on a taxi tour of Puerto Rico for a few hours. Pretty scenery and a very low key afternoon. Tomorrow we're on the photographer's excursion in St. Thomas. I brought a number of lenses and my pack must weigh 50 lbs. I took lots of people photos, but I've been having too much fun to process them.
I promise I will upload them to my website and send a link. I am working on my portfolio for portraits, so new avatars for all the Sandie's who want them!

Anyway, time to get ready for dinner. More later

Pam,

Those photos were pretty large. You can see them by going to my photobucket site if you like:

These pix are in your Alaska album Kathy, or the MUSH pix? confused I also need a password...

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/14/06 03:10 PM

See you are used to Ken posting BIG pictures. Fussy bunch arent we - any picture is better than no picture though.

My son Clay called today and said "what a great bunch of people". He has a couple of friends with him he does not get to spend much time with so I am surprised he is even socializing that much to know. They have a four year old son and need this break. Clay has "of course" been on many cruises and he said this was about the roughest he has experienced. Even his wife got seasick and she never gets seasick. I sure hope it settles down soon that is such a shame.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/14/06 03:32 PM

Ngaire, some of us are at "the age" that we really need to have Ken-sized pictures.

I do hope the water levels out! We had one rough day on Navigator in January, but only to the point that we felt like ping pong balls as we walked down the hallway (kind of like on Rovos).

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/14/06 06:56 PM

Wow your trip sounds wonderful, but for the seas. The weather back in South Florida has been awful. My turn on the Navigator is on Monday when this group returns. I, for one, am looking forward to meeting Guissepe and Captain McNeil! Are either of them single? I am a single mom traveling with my kids and my entire family, all are paired off but me, making me the 13th wheel. I sure hope the seas have calmed down for you guys and you feel great the rest of the week!

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/15/06 08:18 AM

No, Melinda, they're not single. And neither are the ladies doing all the swooning! They're just enjoying the view. They're only human.

Enjoy your trip with your family, you'll have a fantastic time, don't worry about being a "13th wheel".

Boy, am I ever behind...it seems like it was just a few days ago that I asked Karen when she was leaving, to which she relied, "Sunday"...well, I apparently lost a whole week, because I thought they were leaving this COMING Sunday!!

Here's a very belated Bon Voyage...and a thank you to Karen for relaying my hug to the handsome Sheik!

Karen, I hope you and Mark are feeling better!

Oh, how I wish I could be there! Thank goodness for LCT and seamail! :D

Hi Gang!!
In St. Thomas today. The sun is out...slight breeze...perfect!!!! We went ashore and did a little shopping. Well, someone had to do it!!!!
Had the most DEEE...lightful dinner last night!! Arnold took good care of us. (Thanks, Ngaire for the clue!) The food, overall, on this cruise IMO has been exceptionally good!!!
After dinner, we joined a few people in Galileo's and enjoyed a beautiful sail away, from San Juan!
This is the first time we have sailed with John Barron & Lynsay (cruise directors). What a lovely couple. Captain McNeill is a very personable man, also!
Now the sad news.....our cruise is half over! :(

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/15/06 08:29 AM

I just had some exciting news that even Debbie does not know yet, she is of course on SAND right now so let her know Sandies if you read this. This is why I am posting this here.

Ken and I will be on the Mariner sailing 12/3/07 Auckland to LAX that docks in Papeete on December 12th. Ken and I are disembarking in Papeete. Debbie is escorting the PG on December 12th departure.

Since both ships will be in port on the same day we have been trying to think about doing something special for those BK guests on the Mariner and those about to embark on the Paul Gauguin. Debbie and I have been working on this together.

We have put together a complimentary one night hotel package for the night of December 11th at the Radisson Hotel for Brown and Keene guests on the December 12 sailing of the Paul Gauguin. Also a transfer from the hotel to the Mariner the morning of December 12th to arrive at the Mariner in time for a SPECIAL BK AND LCT REUNION LUNCHEON for all BK guestS on both ships.

The morning of December 12th we will have a morning cocktail reception and then lunch on the Mariner for all the Paul Gauguin guests and Mariner guests.

Then the PG guests can walk over to the PG an have special early boarding on the PG as the Mariner sails at 2.00 pm. That will be neat too to be the first on board. Since Ken and I are disembarking the Mariner we will come over to the PG as well.

I think it will be so much fun with both groups coming together in Tahiti. It will be the first time we have been able to do something like this. I am pretty excited about it. It will be the first reunion of LCT cruisers from two trips aboard a Regent ship.

The ships are not in port together that much so it just seemed like such a fun and neat thing to do.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/15/06 12:15 PM

Jan B and I are going to take a serious look at the PG 12/12/07 cruise while on board the Mariner.
This might be the perfect one for "on board" booking discount.
Posted By: cruisinsince75

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/15/06 12:30 PM

Ngaire, I am sure that somebody else has already told Debbie, but if not, I will make sure to pass the message along.

What a wonderful day today in St. Thomas. Weather was sunny and warm and beautiful. Diana went shopping while I got a couple of dives in. The water is so clear and the visibility was awesome. Our first dive was the wreck, the Senor Castanza, in about 65 feet of water. Saw a moray eel, some barracuda, and some sea turtles. The next dive was a reef dive, called Rye Reef. We had six other divers from our ship and about 19 from the Constellation.

Just got through playing trivia. Our team came in second today. We got 13 correct out of 15. I even came up with the correct answer for where the Navigator is now registered. It actually helps to read the lettering on the back of the ship sometimes! LOL

Got our onboard booking discount in place. I guess we are now official Society members now!

Comparing SS to RSSC, the differences are so minute! The service and the food onboard have been very good. A few things we like the way SS does better and a few things we like the way that RSSC does better, but none are deal breakers either way. I will post a more detailed comparison when we return.

I will say that I think the staff onboard has really gone out of their way to check on everybody to make sure that they are having a good time and seem to be much more accessable than on SS, but maybe that is just me, or maybe because we are sailing with such an elite bunch of RSSC sailors! LOL

The girls are off playing BINGO right now and tonight is the Society party and is Informal night. I do like that there is no formals nights onboard. Makes for a much more relaxing cruise.

Tomorrow is a day at sea and I have booked my massage for in the morning. Should have smoother sailings on the way back to Ft. Lauderdale. The captain says that we have a tail wind heading back and it should be much gentler, which is good news to all onboard.

More later...

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/15/06 12:55 PM

Hi Texas Don,

Good hearing your day went so well! Sounds like you had some wonderful dives. Hope Diana made a significant dent in the credit card!

Enjoy tonight's Society party! Smoothe sailing and continued fun times!

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/15/06 05:28 PM

I stopped at the casino and lost $60 in 5 minutes on the slot machine so I thought I better come and post so I would stay out of trouble!

Yet another delightful dinner, tonight we dined Marty and Erika at Guissepi's (sp) table so you know fun was had by all!! Guiseppi is just tickled pink that his soon to be bride, (if she says yes, he is going to pop the question next week) and his gorgeous baby son Lorenzo are coming aboard in two days. I think I have never seen anyone more excited!!

Tonight was also the SSS party and Marcie, you have a new goal to strive for, they are going to add a new tier level to be named titanium, I believe it was 400 nights or more. The perks that go along with titanium are "just about any thing you want"!

Tomorrow is a sea day and tomorrow evening is another dinner with Betty and Larry, I am really looking forward to eating with them again, Mark and I adore them!

Well, I better go check my email, I forgot to do it last time I was here.

PS
We are at sea full speed and no one is throwing up around me, lol, so we must be in calmer seas! Those last two days were the most brutal I have ever spent at sea, I am not as seasoned as I thought I was!
I will check back in tomorrow

We are heading for Nassau today. The seas have improved considerably. I heard the Capt. explaining that it's because going south, we were cruising into the wind, now we are going with it!
Marcie, Larry & I had dinner with Lynsay last night. We did talk about you and Tom. All good, of course.
Looking forward to our dinner with Mark & Sweet Karen tonight.
Julie just stopped by and asked me to say hi to all of you.
Off now, to scout out a deck chair...

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/16/06 08:44 AM

Weather is Sunny Skies and 81 degrees and seas are smooth. We're somewhere between Grand Turk and the Bahamas. The usual sea day activities are happening.

We did the photo excursion yesterday in St Thomas and right from Paradise Point over the view of the harbor was a spectacular rainbow. The rest of the excursion was geared to camera newbies and the scenery less than I would have aimed my lenses at so we were disappointed. It was so different than the photo excursion in Tahiti. Tomorrow in the Bahamas, we will be wandering on our own so we can take photos.

During the sail away, Capt. McNeill played his usual bagpipe music and got into a horn blowing competition with the Holland America ship in port. That was really fun and the weather was perfect for it. Giuseppe and Lyndsay came by to visit with Diana and I who were taking it all in before we headed in for the daily Tea Trivia and Bingo Session. Oh - and Diana won (all of $15.00 if I might add)

I played blackjack with Brooke and Clay last night. Ngaire, you sure did something right and your son is a chip off the old block. Very delightful.

This morning we treated ourselves to Hot Stone Massages in the spa - heaven! We had lunch in CR but most everyone is doing Tex Mex by the pool. I am having a cocktail party in my room and I created a slide show of past cruises that I am sharing with the gang on board who cruised with me.

For full size photos, try using the guest password "LCT" on my photobucket link above. It took Don and me over an hour to get those few photos up and linked, so you will just have to accept that as the best we could do for this week. Either that or I could direct you to a website that sells reading glasses and all the photography on it is mine. (My first pro photo job) We kept crashing when we tried Kodak Gallery.

Well, Mark is trying to get a crew of card players for a Texas Hold'em game going. I hear the sound of cards shuffling and chips clinking and I have a blackjack tournement at three follwed by Tea, Trivia and Bingo. Ah, this is the life!

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/16/06 08:48 AM

Oh, I did forget that Mr. Bean did his Cabaret show last night in Gallileo's. And he did mention Luxury Cruise Talk in his banter. He's definitely my favorite cruise director and Capt Dag and Capt Knute have an awful lot of competition! (and Capt. McNeill IS single, ladies)

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/16/06 11:55 AM

Hi all,
Thank goodness we've stopped rockin' and rollin'. We are having a wonderful, lazy sea day. Tex mex lunch by the pool was fun. I played in the blackjack tournament for the second time and won, for the second time! Maybe I should play for real :D
The weather has been perfect. We had a lovely meal in our suite last night with Diana Krall on the CD player and the balcony door open.....
Tonight is Krew capers.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/16/06 01:02 PM

Another wonderful day today in paradise. The ship was rocking a little this morning but has pretty much flattened out this afternoon.

We had a very relaxing day at sea and a very nice lunch on the verandah of Portofino's looking out and just taking it all in. Hardly anybody out there at all.

Tomorrow is Nassau and hope the weather stays as nice as it was today.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/17/06 03:49 AM

Well, it's our last full day onboard, dang did time ever go fast! I just checked the weather for Nassau, it doesn't look too good so maybe I will skip my tanning today and go over to Atlantis.

We were due to pull in at 3pm but the Captain said we will be several hours early so that is a bonus!

Our dinner last night with Betty, Larry, Don and Dianna was a blast. Of course Arnold had us all special order 2 nights before so most of us had surf and turf for dinner and I had my favorite desert, Baklava!!!! They sent up the leftovers to my room and I will be having that with breakfast this morning smiles

Arnold combined with Franco really does create the perfect duo in the dining room. I am glad that Ngaire passed on that hint for us.

I have pictures to post of the dynamic duo but all my pix will have to wait till I get home sad

I think I will go get another latte and go sit on my balcony to watch us sail into port.

I will check back in later with an update of the day.

xoxo

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/17/06 05:36 AM

Marcie, yes Wendy and Claudia are here. Last night we had pre-dinner cocktails with Wendy, David, Karen, and Mark in Frank and Kathys room. We were by the pool yesterday and saw Claudia working on her tan.

The dinner last night was fabulous with Mark and Karen and Larry and Betty. Arnold was great and ooooh the food. What a day yesterday. Today is a little yuch, but it is early and maybe this stuff will burn off by the time we hit Nassau. If it does, I think Diana and I are going to head to the beach.

Hard to believe it is almost over, it has gone by way too fast.

Last night dinner was so fun, with Karen & Mark and Don & Diana! The food was yummy. We had pre-ordered lobster and lamb chops. Thanks to Arnold!!! Just wait 'til you see the photos! :)

My dear Joanna, I wish you were here, now! I can't wait for that cruise we will do together, hopefully sooner than later.
You too Nancy, Mia and Denise!!

Our cruise is drawing to an end. :( With this one, we will take away some very special memories. Having met handsome Mark and beautiful Karen and spending time with them, and all the other fun LCTers on this cruise!

It was great to meet Clay and Brooke. What a nice, good looking couple!!

And a real pleasure to cruise with Debbie and Russ!

So much more to tell, but later!!!

I can tell you that those of you who haven't met Betty and Larry before are in for a BIG treat!! I now have a new sister and I just adore her from head to toe!!

Everyone I had never met before on this cruise are really super people and I feel lucky to have had the chance to get to know them! My list of "have to meets" is getting shorter and shorted but there are still many I am dying to meet one day!

Mark and Russ went tequilaing last night in the lounge, it is 10;30 and Mark is still laying in bed, lol! We are a few hours from Nassau, I think we are going over to Atlantis with Kathy and Frank. It is overcast but I don't think it is raining, I am going now to check the radar.

More later on tonight!

OHHHHH, I forgot to mention this!!! After 10 cruises, we finally had a picture taken that we didn't hide on the wall of shame!!! We actually bought this one!!! They had a huge bouquet of roses on one of the stair landings and the pictures that the ships photog took were really nice!!!

Wow - we just took on the pilot and we're on sail into Nassau. How pretty it is. I can see the shore from the computer here. Those pesky luggage tags were on our doors yesterday.

We had a great evening lastn ight - Cocktails as Don told you in our room with Shrimp cocktails/Cosmo's and cheese platter follwed by dinner with our WAVE/PIP friends, Wendy and David followed by a donation to the Casino and then Stars lounge where Jerry played guitar. We had drinks with Debbie, Russ, Julie and Chester, John and Lyndsay Barron; Off to the top deck to watch the sail in! And it's partly Sunny and Partly rain clouds!?!?!?

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/17/06 11:50 AM

We walked around Atlantis with Betty and Larry, Mark and Karen and then we came back to the ship. Frank and I headed to Bay Street for a walk around and a little shopping. Off to trivia and tea before packing and getting ready for the AMEX Party and Dinner with Betty and Larry, Karen and Mark - in Arnold's station, of course! Beautiful weather hear. Ship is VERY quiet! Sad to be leaving.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/17/06 11:56 AM

You sure lucked out with John and Lyndsay on your cruise Sandies!! - they do such an incredible job of mingling with everyone!!! Tony and I would love to have monopolized their time but impossible as they have so many guests they cater to in such a charming way!!! A few of us stole away with them for a most memorable land dinner in Buenos Aires!

Hello all and sorry to hear your cruise is winding down. Enjoyed all the seamail and nostalgia for the Navigator and her staff is with me. Betty, you must remember to tell all when we have lunch in 3 weeks! ;)

All good things must come to an end...at least till the next cruise.....

This cruise was wonderful and we met so many wonderful folks. Really nice community and we can't wait to cruise again.

Navigator will go wireless as of tomorrow!!!!!

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/17/06 08:13 PM

We will sure miss hearing from you all and so HAPPY you had a wonderful time on SANDS.

Since the next sailing is "nameless" I'm adding a photo taken tonight from our LCT dinner to send Andrea & Jerel off tomorrow on the Mariner! We had a delicious dinner at a Long Beach restaurant picked by Denise.

Andrea, Jerel, Dena & Grant, Denise & Alan, Tom and me. I don't know what is the matter but I can't seem to get this any larger!! I like the larger photos too!(sorry this is the best I could get it) Everyone is sitting across from their spouse.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/17/06 08:27 PM

Hoping the SANDees made some fantastic memories. Seems like we were just saying "Bon Voyage" to you all.

Marcie,

You sure posted our group photo quickly!

It was a wonderful LCT dinner tonight, welcoming Andrea and Jerel to SOCAL and toasting several glasses of wine, wishing Bon Voyage to Andrea and Jerel, as they embark on the Mariner tomorrow. Great food, conversation, and, most of all, fantastic company!

As one cruise disembarks, another embarks. Hopefully, lots of seamail and pics from Andrea and Jerel.

Andrea and Jerel,

It was a pleasure to finally meet you both! Alan and I hope to cruise with you someday soon!

Safe travels home to the SANDees!

I'm adding that we would have loved having Mary Ellen and Jim join us tonight too (if they flew in one day early) but none of us heard from you!! Please don't be shy!

Marcie,

Forgot to add - Your photo came over very clear and large enough for these old (and very tired from too much wine) eyes!

I will post the photo from my camera tomorrow, hopefully.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/18/06 04:11 AM

Just thought I would jump in here before we disembark today. We had a great time and it will be hard getting off the ship and leaving all our friends. So much to talk about and so much fun.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/18/06 07:40 AM

Well, this party is over - another cruise on the horizon. We had an inpromptu party in Don and Diana's room last night with Russ and Debbie and Wendy and David as well. Much more fun than the AMEX Party - we laughed so hard and we had a bird's eye view of everyone returning to the ship from Nassau. Then Dinner with Larry and Betty, Karen and Mark of course in Arnold's section.

Hard to believe that we're aren't booked to sail on Regent until CROSS; The Barrons will be boarding when we get off and Jamie and Dana will be on Voyager when we are cruising.

The Cruise was really near perfect - only too short is my only complaint!

Well, off to get a bite to eat before we board our flight. The Airport is very busy with holiday travellers. We were able to get on a flight much earlier than originally scheduled thanks to a great curbside rep - 4 hours earlier and still in First - yippee. We really lucked out - our bags were overweight since we shopped before the cruise.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/18/06 09:15 AM

Where was the Andrea and Jerel WABVD (now THERE's a catchy acronym  ) dinner held? What were your favorite courses?

Welcome back to all the SANDees and a special Bon Voyage to Andrea and Jerel, honorary members of the LCT Orange County tribe. It's a LOC! LOL!

Cheers, Anne

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/18/06 09:59 AM

Anne, it was at a very good restaurant that Denise selected in Long Beach called La Crêperie Café (French but most things on the menu had an Italian flair).

Now tell me what WABVD stands for?

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/18/06 11:28 AM

Hey, BP!

Curious about that acronym, too.

Alan and I had French onion soup. entree of Jambalaya crepes and bananas flambe crepes with vanilla ice cream for dessert. The food was really good. Very lively place with a piano player, which added to the festivities.

Sure would have loved for you and Gary to have been there! It was another perfect LCT gathering to welcome out-of-town LCTers to SOCAL!

BTW, Andrea looks beautiful!

Just about time to say "Welcome Home, SANDees!"

Welcome back, SANDees, from what sounds like an almost perfect cruise.

And thanks for posting the photo from the Southern California dinner. A great group, some of whom I hope to meet in person before too long!

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/18/06 04:12 PM

Been back home for just a couple of hours. Bags are all unpacked and Diana is doing the laundry as we speak.

We rode to the airport with Frank and Kathy. They invited us to come with them to the Delta Lounge to hang out with them, but it was in a different terminal and Diana was still having a few stomach issues, so we decided to stay put and wait for our flight. I started working on our cruise review on my laptop at the airport, but didn't get too far. We bumped into Debbie, Russ, and her parents at the next gate waiting for their flight home, so we sat and chatted for quite awhile before we boarded sharing all the memories of the cruise. We plan on getting together with them after the holidays for dinner and reminscing over the pictures.

I can't say enough about all the fun us LCT'rs had on this cruise. What a great group of people to sail with. So many good memories.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/18/06 09:02 PM

Glad all the Sandee's had a good time and are sorry to see their cruise end.

Well, phooey, Alan and I flew home tonight from Irvine after a short Christmas visit with his mom. We could have "almost" made it to the LCT send off for Andrea and Jeryl. Have a good time guys!

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/19/06 06:02 AM

So glad you guys had a great time.

The following is too late for the Sandies,(I apologise for only reading the mail last night as I was finishing up a chapter) but hopefully will help someone else.

Last year on the Navigator, we too had alot of pitching and rolling. The solution if you could make it was to go into CR since in CR it felt like the ship wasn't even moving. One night Gil hadn't felt well. I went alone to CR and as I was sitting there, I realized it was very calm. I ran back to the cabin and insisted Gil get dressed and come down to CR. Paige, Anthony, Gordon and Rebecca were with us, and Anthony commented how Gil came into CR green and left looking normal. He had rice that night, but CR cured his seasickness.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/19/06 07:16 AM

Arlene, I don't think even Compass Rose would of saved us on our worst night! The seas were so rough that we could watch huge waves crash over the bow on the tv channel that shows the front of this ship. The waves were so intense, they were reaching the camera!

After 10 cruises, I can say that it was our worst day at sea, the first that I have seen Mark that green at the gills.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/19/06 08:54 AM

Arlene, boy are you right.l We just had lunch in CR and it was calm, but back in our room now we sure are rocking and rolling.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/19/06 09:02 AM

Hi Doris!! So happy to hear from you. I hope the seas calm down for you. In the meantime maybe you can just take up residency in a corner of CR!

Karen I feel your pain. We had 9' - 10' swells the night Gil got sick and you couldn't even feel the ship move in CR. (I guess they do that on purpose so they don't have lots of sick diners at night.)

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/28/06 01:53 PM

Hi everyone...just wanted to report back after disembarking from Navigator today that it was everything I hoped for and more. There were 13 of us in all, and every single one of us from the youngest to the oldest had a blast. The crew were delighted having kids on board and went out of their way to make all the kids on board, about 30 or 40, feel welcome and at home. Santa stopped by on Christmas Day (we couldn't go to Roatan so got an extra day at sea) and had gifts for every kid. Guisseppe popped the question in front of all to see, and it was the most lovely and romantic thing I think I've ever seen. He then quickly dove into the pool, uniform, stocking cap, and all! The captain, the social staff, the wait staff, the butlers and stewardesses...I hated leaving. They pretty much had to wheel us off from all the food and wine. All in all, a super time was had by all!

Melinda, I am glad you had such a good time!! I would of LOVED to see Guiseppi pop the question, I bet that he was a nervous wreck!

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/28/06 02:08 PM

Karen, we actually have a picture or two, and also of Baby Lorenzo and his mom...what a great looking family! I will see if I can't figure out how to post the picture. I just looked at the pictures from last week's trip that are on line...my kids and I are feeling lost with no one to cater to our every whim right now, lol.

Re: Hello from SAND! - 12/28/06 02:51 PM

Melinda, can you link us to where the pix are online? I have only seen the picture of Lorenzo that Guiseppi uses as his screensaver, I bet he has grown since that picture was taken!
