Hot off the press news...it's looking likely that we're going to do the Voyager World Cruise January 5-April 23 Los Angeles to Ft. Lauderdale...(fingers and toes crossed that an investment many years ago is FINALLY coming through). :app:
Lawrence and Ngaire are on the Dubai to Rome segment and I believe Doug and Lynn are doing the Singapore to Dubai to Rome segments...anyone else planning any portion of this?
Come join us!

I guess if I ever get to sail with you & Tom it is off to the brochures for me. I want to sail with you all - but don't think I can pull off even 1 segment of the world. Maybe the 007? But it is not on the Diamond. I will have to wait until July to see what my opinion of the Voyager is in a Cat H. If I shake, rattle & roll, I will definitely always be a Diamond girl. So excited for you. Will you be having a butler? (TB) If you do the world, why not?????

Yaaaaaaaaaa Marcie and Tom Take me, I'll be your butler (no charge) :mecry: Betty, what's wrong with the Voyager??? Have you been on it? It is very different than the Diamond, but I think it still has an intimate feeling and of course, you can't beat the cabins (they are the best of them all). Come on, join 007, we won't leave you hanging like Marcie did :D :D :D

Having only sailed on the Diamond, I am a little nervous about what the vibrations in Cat H might do to me. Always thought I was prone to sea sickness & with the Diamond - nada. So this will be my 1st experience on a "real" cruise ship. And I have 2 cruises scheduled on the Voyager this year. And John & Judy are doing the Istanbul thing with me. I hate to leave them hanging, but I will check out the 007 ports. I really do want to see Istanbul & Santorini. It is not like I have trouble making friends on cruises - ie the reunion pictures. At least I don't have to decide tonight.

Marcie Since you will have been home for 5 months before the Istanbul to Barcelona cruise, why not do both? And if you take Kimmi as TB, I could be your "ladies maid"

Great idea, Betty! The two of us will make an excellent team!! Don't know how much of Marcie's ironing will get done, or Tom's shoe shining....but we will certainly keep them entertained  You will love the Voyager, we felt no vibration. I think we were in 716(?). Don't worry too much about it. Also, I am the queen of motion sickness (of every variety) and felt fine. Although, I'm not including the "perfect storm" experience the last night. It wouldn't have matter what ship you were on, it was nerve-wracking.

Marcie and Tom:
We still expect you on PiP with a boatload of photos to show us from your cruise!
Congratulations....you are making many of us jealous.
If anyone is interested, we have pencilled in the 2014 World Cruise...should we start a roll call?

Perhaps we should do an catchy name for the World Cruise. If you are on any segment you can consider yourself a "world crusier". Graywolf is doing the whole thing too Marcie and although I have not met her she is an absolute delight to work with. She posted once about this so I hope she sees this and knows she has company.
Oh bright people come up with a name for the World Cruise.

Marcie, you can take me with you to walk behind you with your medicine bottle. I will make sure it is full at all times.
Betty, I bet we can work on John and Judy to sway them to switch over to 007! I think you will love the Voyager. I am a Diamond girl too but I loved the Mariner just as much. Just keep repeating to yourself, walk-in closet....walk-in closet.

Yay! I say go for it as well. If an opportunity of this sort presents itself, you have to take it. How often can you see the Sydney Opera House, Australian penguins, Tasmanian devils, Nuku Hiva, the Great Barrier Reef, the Taj Mahal, and Luxor all on the same trip?

Walk in closet; walk in closet.
I wish I hadn't already been to so many of your 007 ports - but I sure hate to miss a good party. I am trying to tell Marcie & Tom that after being home for 5 months they will be ready to go again. After all, they will still be on the MINT & that is just 2 months before the world cruise. I will work on her. And you & Kimmi & I could share one of those 3 person rooms. I can see it now - shoes everywhere, your extension cord stretched acroos the room, me wanting to plug in my rollers & Kimmi just standing there looking gorgeous as ever. But then she could be the one to answer the buzzer when our mistress (Miss Marcie) rings.

You guys are so funny!!! Believe me, we will not have any butler...we're opting for the cheapest cabin possible. Guess Tom is the butler. I'm most concerned about being away from my pets for so long. My 23 year old daughter who moved back home after college (sorry for all the times I wondered if she'd ever move out...shame on me!)will be staying here so I should have peace of mind. BTW, if you get an invitation to any parties at our house while we're away...IGNORE...she's just teasing! It's amazing...I can only imagine that things happen for a reason. We just found out about this "windfall" (for lack of a better word) this morning...not even 24 hours to digest all of this yet. We are literally blowing it on this cruise and treating it like it never existed...won't change our day to day one bit. The older I get the more I'm realizing that it's better to take advantage of opportunities as they come along. For too many, the Golden years ain't so golden! We're young enough and in good health to enjoy this once in a lifetime experience. I'm so happy that Graywolf will be on board...spent my lifetime with animals, never a wolf! I'm sure we'll hit it off. Richard...this cruise is all inclusive...open bar! DANG...there I go rambling. I should never post after a "big" glass of wine!

Marcie, what a wonderful opportuity. You go girl! And, you're right. At this stage of our lives (and I'm guessing we're close in age), who knows what tomorrow will bring. I'm so happy for you. If I had the chance, I'd go in a heartbeat!
Just a little gossip...on the SA Grand Circle cruise on the Mariner in January (of course we only did one tiny portion), there was a couple who had 36 bags of luggage. Now, I want to know, where did they put all of those suitcases? Certainly, not under the bed!!
Just think, you'll be included in all the "exclusive" events and special dinners. Have fun!

Joanna, I told her the same thing!! She and Tom are now the fabulously wealthy, gorgous, Matassa's. She needs a floorlength boa for formal night, for sure. Sheri, you guys need to borrow Marcie's house keys while your on Mint. We'll pick a weekend for the houseparty. We should start a shopping list, you have the jello shots.....we'll need test tube shooters, a keg, a funnel (Lawrence).......

Floorlength boa? It's a must!!!! Marcie, check Goodwill or the Salvation Army. And you will need a couple of low cut dresses, or do you prefer backless. Not only can I be the "ladies maid", I will volunteer as wardrobe mistress. That is probably part of my job description anyway. Karen, as medicine carrier - all you will need is a white uniform - polyester of course. Maybe they would give us the night off once in a while & then we could bring out our finery.

Betty, you sure do use the word mistress alot.....hmmmmmm :D I better stop, not sure where I was going with that. Marcie won't need her medicine bottle, totally inclusive! Expresso and Sambuca at your whim Karen, you will have to find other chores....maybe you could lay out the red carpet as Marcie enters each room and hallway??? Or, hold the train of her robe as she strolls the promenade??? Betty and I will rotate carrying her parisol...

Me in a floor length boa...?? I DON'T THINK SO! Sorry Karen, no medicine lady needed ..I can leave the medicine bottle at home on this trip, it's all inclusive! If there were anyway to pack ALL OF YOU in my suitcase...you'd be there faster than I can say "Another Cosmo Please"!!
Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous??...me thinks we'd get nailed for identity theft!

Oh my gosh, I forgot about her tiaras. I will need to contact Martha B, plus get out my old one from high school proms. It is around here somewhere. Mistress - I must watch too much PBS. Or read too many English countryside novels. Kimmi, what would be a better term?

Betty, forgive me, I had a different line of thinking when you mentioned Mistress.....forget it, it certainly wasn't in the context of any PBS shows! Tiaras sound perfect, and won't she need some sort of animal wrapped around her shoulders at night???
To edit, this is from Kimmi, might sound strange if you thought it was John :D

To the Kimmis
I wasn't offended. I have all sorts of clever responses to your reference - but I needed to show you how high brow I can be. Is anyone gagging yet? Although those cruise reunion photos, make me look rather mistressy. Is that a word? But not in front of my husband. I guess it is time to bring out the sex kitten signature photo again. No, I will just stay with the camel for a while.
I bet there is some furry thing with a head at the Goodwill also. And I bet it smells just swell. But I have until Jan to get her wardrobe into shape. If the west coasters throw a Bon Voyage party, I will send a box of "appropiate" world cruiser formal wear to be opened at the party. Do you think I should also be looking for a Fred Astaire 1930s outfit for Tom?

Very impressed with the PBS & novel references :nw: But I know you have a little mistressy in you, btw, great legs (saw the cruise reunion pic)! Oh, and Tom IS Fred Astaire (just alot younger and much more handsome). Think that will earn me some butler points??
Edit-I did it again, keep forgetting John is logged on!!

I grew up in a very strict family & then worked in libraries for 35 years where I had to be good & oh so professional. Now that I have retired, I am afraid the real me is starting to emerge. And yes, I think I too am also a sicko - but I sure am having fun, while trying to keep some part of my "southern lady" upbringing. Hey, maybe I am Scarlett reincarnated. I'm certainly no Melanie. I just try to make sure my mother thinks I am. And my poor son - he just doesn't understand why all his friends think I am so much fun, when I am just a mother!!! BTW - he hasn't seen the Phoenix or LV photos.

I don't think I have his email addr, what is it again?? BTW, I can relate to the whole southern, strict upbringing. I am from SC, and still do not wear certain outfits in front of my dad that he wouldn't consider "proper". I sometimes feel like two different people....and when we go home, I still give John the speech about not cursing in front of my Father. Cursing, of course, includes the words crap and sucks.

Oh Margo...woman of great knowledge and travel...any pointers you can give me would be much appreciated! This is old hat to you and your Tom but VERY NEW to us.
(the rest of my divine Ya Ya sisterhood just like to have fun at my expense. They've got me wearing tiaras, floor length boas, animals wrapped around my neck, caked on makeup and probably green hair...Lord only knows what Tom will end up looking like  ...did I miss anything? I'll really be a hit! You can see I let the people I love get away with anything....)

Kimmi, In my Ga household, even the word "butt" was not allowed  And, my mother really believes that I live in a foreign country (Tucson) and have deserted my homeland! Thought you might enjoy my version of GRITS that I wrote for a friend who recently moved to Atlanta. See if you can relate: Yes, that’s right, Donna Marlece Leftwich Vittur Hull is a G.R.I.T.S., otherwise known as Girl Raised In The South. Read this advice carefully, it might save you from being labeled a dreaded Northerner or, worse yet, one of those crazies from L.A. - GRITS never wear white shoes before Memorial Day or after Labor Day. This is a rule made up by lazy GRITS who get tired of polishing white shoes.
- In the southernmost towns of the South, GRITS don’t wear red. That color is reserved for those unsavory ladies of the night.
- GRITS don’t dance with a drink in their hand or smoke standing up. This advice only applies to the GRITS who were Delta Zetas in 1969 at Georgia State University, but some still follow the antiquated practice.
- GRITS wear pearl necklaces for any occasion…with a tennis outfit, bathing suit, nightgown, workout clothes, it doesn’t matter. GRITS like their pearls.
- GRITS never drink from a can…soft drink or otherwise.
- GRITS over the age of 50 put on their makeup the minute they wake up each morning. It is a sacred rule second only to the all important rule of wearing clean underwear if you are going to have a car wreck or plan on visiting the emergency room.
- When GRITS entertain at an outdoor dinner party, it’s called a cookout. Our husbands or boyfriends cook the meat on a grill. A barbecue, on the other hand, is a specific cookout that includes beef, pork or chicken cooked on a grill with a special sauce known as barbecue sauce. Any GRITS will tell you that grills are not barbecues.
- GRITS place their grocery store items in a buggy. Northerner’s think buggies are for babies but that is not true. All GRITS know that babies ride in strollers.
- Many GRITS have an eccentric relative that we’re not sure about. We keep them hidden in the back room when visitors come to call. If you ever meet them, we will roll our eyes and explain that they were dropped on their heads as babies probably by some dreaded Northerner or a goofy babysitter from L.A.
Follow these rules, and you will fit right in. Just be sure to say “Ya’ll” the right way. It is said all at once. Anyone who says “you all” is an imposter and will forever be branded a foreigner. ;)

I certainly do understand. We aren't to this day allowed to say Gosh or Golly without getting "the lecture." This is probably 1 reason I now have a fowl mouth also. My sins just go on & on. My mother also doesn't believe in travel, but that is a whole other story. Let's just say she doesn't always know where I am. But it is hard to find plausible stories when I am out of the country & I can't ask my family to lie for me. For the Chocolate cruise, I will tell her I am visiting friends in Florida. I "had" to tell her Egypt was a Xmas present from Clay. And for Las Vegas, i told her I didn't get back from Egypt until Easter Sunday. And she is really not happy about Norway, but I sail in July! I hate having to be like this around her, but I am 60 years old & it is time I lived my life the way I want to. Now I am off to hunt for Marcie's formal evening wear. Never too early to get started with a new job.
