Tks, Karen, for posting Ted's pictures. He certainly captured the bear's spirit & personality. They are so beautiful! Another trip of a lifetime...yes! - Michele

My top two choices would be Galapagos/MP and Greek/Med (something like an Istanbul-Venice as we'd like to see some Greek islands, Istanbul, Ephesus, and Dubrovnik). Also must do Africa, Churchill, and Antarctica some day - not likely for 2007 - if only time and money were unlimited!

We've been to Venice and Istanbul and would love to go back. Two beautiful and fascinating destinations. We have so many places we've yet to see, so repeats, unfortunately, will have to wait.
Welcome Home, Dena! Can't wait to hear more about your cruise!

Well, sounds like we have the start of a Venice-Istanbul group! I would be delighted to cruise with Joanna, Tony, and Betty. What fun that would be! Now if only we could convince Denise and Alan to join us as our guides!

Just found this thread - am really interested in the Greek Islands in 2007. Found a good one with Oceania but naturally would prefer to go with Radisson, the longer the better. If anyone has any information that can help me, I'd appreciate it.

Dena and Lee,
As much as Alan and I would love to join you and be your guides, there are lots of places to see that are on our wish list. However, I have some good guides to recommend. You can check out my posts on "Private Guides" and see who we've used and recommend.

Denise, thanks for your recommendation - will check out your posts. Hopefully, my son Michael and I will be doing the Baltics in June with Ngaire, so I shouldn't be getting too excited about another cruise at this stage. Wouldn't it be nice to have a money tree?

Lee, Please let me know if you have any questions. Will be more than happy to help.
We took the Baltics cruise this past August. You will love this itinerary. Again, would welcome your questions.
Yes, it would be lovely to have a money tree. If you find the seeds to grow one, please let me know. If I could cultivate a money tree, my "black" thumb would instantly turn a very bright green!

Count us interested in British Isles and Churchhill polar bears especially. I've been away from LCT for way too long -- long story -- How nice it is to check back in with my old friends and see some 2007 dreaming going on.

Todays Desination section of USA Today lists the Churchill Bears as one of the 5 on the verge of vanishing places to visit in the world. Since several expressed an interested - including myself - I am copying story here.
(2) Polar bears on Hudson Bay Where: Hudson Bay is where the southernmost and best-studied populations live.
The threat: About 60% of the estimated 22,000 polar bears live in the Canadian Arctic. The planet's largest land-dwelling carnivores are a sight to behold. Sea ice is essential to their survival because it is the platform from which they hunt ringed seals and other prey. Global warming is causing the ice to retract, threatening the bears' ability to hunt and breed. At this rate, the sea ice could disappear by 2050.
"They will lose their habitat, and if you don't have your habitat, you don't have anything," says Lara Hansen, chief scientist for climate change at World Wildlife Fund.
The prognosis: Polar bears need to maintain a minimum weight to reproduce; those in the Hudson Bay population are approaching a weight at which breeding will no longer be possible. The bears can migrate north, but unless action is taken to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, which cause global temperature increases, "we'll slowly be moving the line of polar bears until there is nowhere else for them to be," Hansen says.
Seeing them: Viewing trips are offered out of Churchill, Manitoba. Outfitters include WWF partner Natural Habitat Adventures, whose all-inclusive seven-day trips in October and November, including airfare from Winnipeg, start at $3795, double. 800-543-8917; nathab.com.
