What a lovely post Arlene. There are those unique moments that we always remember. With covid spreading with the speed of light amongst people in the general population you may indeed be in the most controlled environment.

Just had the most phenomenal, romantic dinner in Sette Mari. We are in St. Thomas and docked so we can see the island lights. The temp is perfect and a very mild breeze blowing in my hair. The ambiance just cannot be put into words! Probably the nicest dinner I have ever had on board. I could have sat there for hours, but wanted others to have the opportunity. It was shear bliss …..I am one very happy, very blessed lady. Life just doesn’t get better!
Marc and I sat today and went over the excursions for the rest of the trip. We are enjoying the ship, and our “controlled†environment so much we turned in all tickets and plan to just enjoy the ship. I must say I am not looking forward to the end, and being around “civilization “ again. I could just stay here for months (or years) until this all passes. You guys sound like us - on our Explorer inaugural "return to cruising" cruise back in October, we only got off the ship 3 times in the whole 30 days. We just stayed onboard enjoying the ship, and felt so much safer onboard. You guys enjoy the rest of your cruise!!

Another great meal in sette Mari; Jim and pat said it was their favorite and I am beginning to understand.
We are now down three bartenders; hopefully two come out of jail tomorrow.

Crew tested yesterday and no new cases. All save one out of quarantine. Rachel, John will have to go through seven days quarantine once back onboard so you probably won't see him on your cruise.
Another great night at Sette Mari. Nice to see that we have Asst CD and Social Hostess out and about.
Life is good (even though I wouldn't call this cruise good).
Marc
PS Newspaper printer still missing part; hopefully no one expects newspapers in the near future.

The 2022 World Cruise will now have 3 Miami to Miami segments between the San Francisco to Miami and Miami to San Francisco. Now the "Grand Caribbean" Cruise. Several have cancelled at the Fairmont where the "Non-Gala is to be held. It might be a low capacity cruise. There will be lots of noise about it on RSSC Social and CC. Jim

Jim, do you think one day’s notice was enough? Does this mean that navigator will be delayed even further? Is it finally time to fire fdr?
That said I will be looking for the release of the miami to miami segments; especially with two category upgrade.

Marc, One day's notice definitely wasn't enough. We found out around 2:30pm yesterday and there are a lot of p***ed off people. With the full itinerary given to us they must have been working on it for a few days and could have saved people the hassle of traveling right after a major holiday and massive flight delays & cancellations. Several people took the cancellation option immediately and I imagine more will bail out this morning. It's looking like we may have well under 400 guests. We also have the option to quit an any of the Miami stops and a lot of us starting out the first segment will see how the ship life is and decide as we go along. Most regular World Cruisers don't really care about the ports and will stick with it anyway in spite of repeated ports. If we have better lecturers than we had on the Splendor that will make things better.
This all happened because too many ports in Europe, where we were heading, and Asian ports where we were finishing are closed to cruise ships or have Covid problems. I would guess that the Navigator initial sailing would depend on availability of ports on her itinerary. I'm sure we'll have a town hall meeting, hopefully on the sea day tomorrow, where we'll get more definite information. Jim

Jim, unless pissed off translates into cancellations of 2023 and 2024 World Cruise bookings Regent gets away unharmed.
If worried about Med ports (just Portuguese ports actually on your WC) in February that doesn't portend well for Voyager starting in Med in February.
I am sure you will have fun on your cruise. Maybe they will name a table at Sette Mari after you and Pat.

Just received an email from "AJAX" Tim and a partner flew to Chile to get on the Silver Seas Antarctica cruise. They had a number of negative covid test along the way, and he said they got within 100 yards of the ship and his partner came up positive. Immediately escorted to a hotel where they are now waiting to see what is going to happen. I feel so bad for them. Tim has been planning this cruise for over two years.

WE ARE HOME!! After doing our road trip of Western and Central Florida we are finally home. Quick story: 6 couples were signed up for 2002 Renaissance cruise to Tahiti, until 911 happened and they went out of business. Everyone still wanted to go so I started looking for replacement. That is when I talked to Ngaire. and 5 couples signed up for the Paul Gaugin 02/15/2003 cruise. In the mean time I was on a Tahiti chat line and met Pat Depre, ( shoppingpat.com) around October 2002. Started to emails and have stayed in contact since. Pat & Tony moved to The Villages from Chicago, and we made arrangement to finally meet. What a wonderful time we had for 1 1/2 days. Plus cruising friends Sherry & Bud Jones joined us for a BBQ at Depre's home, and dinner at Nancy Lopez restaurant.
Oh. And our back to back 20 day cruise on the Splendor was great with Pat & Jim Bittle, Arlene & Marc Levin, Tammy Bennett, and Sherie Kale, Carol & Bing Cherry.

Tom & I have received gifts in past years but we must be on their "naughty" list...nothing this year (probably because we haven't hardly left home). I
I'd love to hear what others received.

Marcie, We had a letter in our suite that said there would be a gift awaiting us when we got home. I hadn't received mine by the time I left for the WC. Maybe gifts take 60 days like refunds.

Our next door neighbor said she picked up a package from Regent on our front entry. I'm guessing it's the "gift." Let us know what you guys get. Panama Canal tomorrow beginning at 7:30am EDT. Viewing at: https:\\multimedia.panama-canal.com/webcams Jim

Received our glass paperweight globe today; different than the three snow globes we have received in the past. Where does one store all this stuff.
