Seems I recall reading something about Silversea blocking photo hosting sites like Photobucket, Shutterfly, SmugMug. Is that still the case? Maybe it was related to where you were cruising in the world - I just can't recall...

We are on Explorer in December and am hoping to post a few photos here and on Facebook.

We have only had that issue recently. First on Silversea in Russia but the again on the Crystal River cruise in Europe. Russian I got but Europe surprised me. To date not been blocked on Regent. Kim showed me a great way to post pictures here from her iphone. I plan on trying that when i am on my next cruise. I have that information at my office and I will post it here tomorrow.

The website is:
http://imgbb.com/

Once you have uploaded a photo, chose one of the BB codes and copy it. Then paste it in your LCT post.

You can use the website from any device, like a laptop or notebook, that has internet access, not just an iPhone. I don't take my laptop on vacations generally, so I am always posting on LCT from my iPhone. And I have found the imgbb website to work well since photobucket is not an option.

Ignore the comment about the "Plugin" information. That was meant for Ngaire to pass on to Karen or someone to see if it can be added to LCT so that we can have the photo button on our posts.

We are going to look into adding "the plug in" whatever that is to LCT to make it even easier but the last few weeks have been exceptionally busy. But this is on the list of things to look into of course it will be Julie or Ken that will actually figure it out.

I am the most basic iphone user. I just posted the picture below. No one would guess why I picked this photo! It was VERY EASY.

Use of the website imgbb.com to get the code needed to post photos on LCT is not limited to iPhone. You can do it from a laptop or any device you use to get to the internet and post of LCT if your photos are also on that device, of course. You upload the photo to the website to get the code. So, for example, if Ken loads his photos from his camera to his laptop, he can then upload a photo to imgbb.com to get the code to post the photo on LCT. No iphone involved there at all. I'm just saying this so people don't think it's an iphone only tool. smiles

I like this process a lot but Ken is worried like "photo bucket" it could go sky high in cost or even close down and all our pictures go away. If we can get our own gallery incorporated into LCT we would have control of all the pictures and that would be a better long term situation. So we are working on it. TIme will tell if this is going to be the way to go and if it does not work we can always go back to this method. I find it very easy.

Well after much work we do not think the hosting pictures within LCT is going to work. The system is too complex to post. The system that Kim suggested is definitely much simpler. There is a risk that we might lose our pictures one day but it is better than never having them in the first place!

There are a lot of companies like the one Kim found with free picture hosting. Julie is looking at them all now and some have an APP that may make it even easier. So after she checks all this out we will share that with you. When using these third party free hosts you can use any of them you like I am sure most work basically the same. I really liked the one Kim found I think it was super easy.

Below is a website about these free photo hosting sites.

I have never used it but maybe Kim or Julie has.....Tapatalk is an app for forums that provides photo hosting and faster forum browsing while viewing from your phone or tablet. Could we use something like this? I know it is used on Cruise Critic and that is how they post most pix there. There are both Apple and Android app versions.

The guy that handles our LCT highly dissuades us from Tapa Talk. I asked for that and he was totally against it saying it has corrupted peoples message boards. We do not need that but I know cruise critic uses it all the time. I saw Rachel do it once but what Kim found works just as well as Tapa Talk. I will ask again that is what I wanted from the first time I saw Rachel use it.

Both just post pictures like my lamb chop picture. Both as easy as each other. Read the link I posted tells quite a lot. All we need is ease of posting a picture on LCT not all the bells and whistles and more complex paid sites like SmugMug that do so much more.
