We have a connection through ORD to Qatar Airlines in June. Our Qatar flight leaves at 6:50 p.m. How much time should we allow between our flight from Cleveland to our connection in the International terminal. I'm not even sure if we will be able to check our bags through since these reservations will be made separately. I would really appreciate any input - thanks!

You can check your luggage through. Just show them your Qatar reservation when you check in in Cleveland. most airlines have interline agreements (a notable exception is Southwest; definitely AA, Delta and United do.)
The international terminal is accessed by a rail system. Depending on what terminal and gate you arrive into it can take 15 plus minutes or so to walk to the connecting point, which is outside security and beyond the check in counters.
It doesn’t take very long to go between terminals, but you will have to go through security in the international terminal. You can do it all faster but I’d allow 2 hours between flights.

I suggest you call the airline you are taking from Cleveland. Many airlines will not interline any more. Several have stopped that practice. If flying AA because AA and Qatar are both One World they may, but no guarantee.

Personally I would allow NO LESS than three hours to be safe. I do think you will have to collect your luggage and recheck it on Qatar. Better to have too much time than not enough and get stressed.

Agree. Just learned last night that most of the airlines recently stopped interlining. That’s what we hoped to do on the way home from this trip as our AA ticket is separate from our Cathay ticket. But incoming in international is easier to recheck, and they’re both One World, so we will see.

Just reporting in that Cathay in Hong Kong will interline to AA on separate tickets. We have separate PNRs and were able to check our bags through to Albuquerque.
