I am contemplating trying out the new Silver Cloud Expedition ship in 2019. This is a lovely little ship and will be a very luxurious expedition ship. I always think of Antarctica and Arctic regions for expedition travel it is the only way you can really see the polar regions. Doing these types of cruise on a large ship is not the same experience.
I like to do an expedition trip every year so I was thinking about itineraries that can be done on a larger ship but that would be quite different on an expedition ship.
Circumnavigation of Iceland - remote fishing villages, waterfalls, volcanic regions, prime whale watching and bird (puffins my favorite) British Isles and Ireland - by zodiac to the tiny islands and villages that have you step back in time. Old castles and architecture, thatched houses, English gardens, and birds (lots of puffins too)
I have no idea if those types of trips would interest anyone so curious as to your thoughts?

Al and I both love the idea of this cruise. Whether it would be too difficult for me is another story. No problems with getting in and out of a zodiac though. I am in and out of a whaler all the time. Terrific itinerary and reasonable flying distance.

Okay we will wait and see what Silversea has to offer and I am happy there is some interest. I have wanted to do this type of trip around the UK ever since I visited the island of IONA on the Song of Flower many years ago.Only about 100 inhabitants and the massive Abbey that dominated the town. Iona and a tiny island called SARK where there were no cars and you got around by horse and buggy. These two places have always remained as some of my best memories of "stepping back in time".

Definitely would be interested. George and I are also looking at one of the 10 day Antarctica cruises on Cloud in Feb 2019.

The schedules for May 2019 are not published yet but I anticipate this cruise itinerary as they do it every year. Understand the schedules should be out around August.

I'm sure if we get thrown in the clink, Jerry could sing our way out!!! Talked with Jodi this morning, I believe she and Mark have an interest as well! Wow, this could be a blast!!!

Actually that is probably what I will do. Plan the safari post cruise end. Perfect time of year. People always asking me how they can break that trip down so this would be perfect for those that have the time.

We would definitely be interested in going straight to S. Africa. Anything to shorten that trip! Maybe by then Al will be retired - or almost!

Of the 2018 itineraries, I am partial to the 19 May trip as it includes Faroe, Orkney, and Shetland Islands; Isle of Man; and is the longest of the three.

George already almost got himself arrested in London once--trying to carry a 4 inch blade knife into the houses of Parliament. So he is probably on some watch list. He talked his way out of it, but not without a lot of angst on my part.
