Made our reservations at Embassy Suites in Montreal for the 25th, 26th, 27th..
Think there is a Zombie parade while we are there. Noticed hotel rooms were a little hard to come by.
Now on to booking airfare.

Now I have the hotels in Billings reserved both ways
Flights to Montreal and Embassy Hotel downtown Montreal for the 25th, 26th, 27th
Flights back to Billings from Miami.
Now all I have left is to book tours in Montreal. Have them picked out just waiting
for them to open.

This morning I just booked our West /East/ Ghost walking tours of Montreal for the 26th and 27th.
Now we only need to update our passports. Need to wait until we finish a business trip Jan has to Atlanta
April 14th. Montana drivers license are one of those that can not be used as ID at airports. Change is coming
but not yet.

Jim, isn’t there an extension on the “real ID” requirement until 2020? Or is that only for California? California has started issuing these licenses but have said repeatedly that we don’t need to get it till 2020.

You might be right. From way I understand it. Here in Montana you have the option of going back to DMV office. Pay a fee and get a new license or just wait until it is time to renew.
We have always found it easier to just use our passports so will probably just do that. Mine does not expire until 2023 so not in a big hurry.

Entered our excursions for this cruise this morning.
Saint John's Bay excursion was already sold out so had to pick another one.
In Boston Jan and I are going to do the Presidential Library / museum private tour.
This April we will be in Atlanta and will do Jimmy Carter's so after Kennedy we will
have F. D.Roosevelt as the only one left. Been to all the rest.
Now on to dinner reservations July 30th.

Jim and Jan, enjoy this trip! I did it I think in 2010? I never remember the years. Can’t remember what in St. John’s but that was one great cruise. I have to admit, have never been to my first presidential library and you are making me feel guilty for that!

I was there in 2012. Did a Silversea excursion. No idea what it was called but the 2 things that stand out in my mind were Signal Hill (fantastic view & the history of transatlantic radiograms) and the Government House. The public can't tour the house but we were allowed to go into the entry hall, sign a book and walk around the grounds. Kept trying to imagine this being allowed at the White House.

They had just been through an Atlantic hurricane (Leslie) so there was a lot of clean-up going on.
Who knew those storms could hit so violently that far north?

I liked the city a lot.

I am so impressed Jim & Jan.
Boy have Tom and I been slackers.... We've only been to Richard Nixon's because it's in our neighboring town just minutes away. I went through grade school at Eisenhower elementary school, does that count haha ? wonder

I love your itinerary. We were on the same cruise as Olivia in 20 something something.

Saturday April 28th we had an 9:00 am appointment at the Post Office to renew our passports.
Went well. They told us to allow 5 to 6 weeks, but previous people renewing have told them that they
received theirs 2 to 3 weeks.
Glad that is done. It was the last thing, ( except dinner reservations aboard ship), we needed to get done for our October cruise.
Hopefully have all the other reservations done, clap

Received a notice from Clay today about a itinerary change on our cruise because of the slow speed requirement on the St. Lawerence River
will not allow us to do the original itinerary.

When we did last year's Grand Arctic from Montreal, our original itinerary had us visiting Charlottetown, P.E.I., however a newly passed law restricted speed through a protected area of the Gulf of St. Lawrence to 10 knots to protect Right Whales. That passage would have delayed our arrival too much to enjoy the town so we went instead to Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Is this what happened to your itinerary?

Yes that is the same reason for our change. Lost St. John's and changed to Saguenay.
Not a big deal to us since we have never been there so don't know the difference.
Have our replacement tour lined up so everything is fine.

21 days left.
Bing and Carol were over for dinner Saturday and we discussed some of the details.
Jan and I fly into Montreal the 25th and have three walking tours lined up before boarding the ship
on the 28th.
Bing & Carol arrive Montreal around 11:30 pm on the 27th!! Neither one could get away earlier.
Now to watch the weather and see how to pack.
Little concerned about the hurricane issues around Miami.

When you are in New York City, you can go to the General Grant National Memorial (I guess he preferred General to President) in Riverside park at about 122nd street. Be sure to ask the docent who is buried there. They love that!
