I was looking for a cheap cruise to go on next year where we could do some scuba diving in different places rather than the usual land trip to Grand Cayman for a week. Alice and I have never sailed on Celebrity, but we understand that going into it with expectations adjusted for "it is what it is"; we will be fine. We know some LCTers enjoy Celebrity. So we are not a bit worried. This 9-night cruise lets us dive one day in our beloved Grand Cayman, and also in Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao (the ABC islands). Ten years ago we sailed in the Caribbean with Wes and Ida on Silversea; diving with Wes. They will be joining us on this "ABC Cruise". Who else is interested? It's a great price. Celebrity is deploying the Equinox to the Caribbean full time and pricing is to promote that, I think.

Wish we could join you Kim but we will be on Cheetah. I have sailed 3x with Celebrity and you are absolutely right: if you don't expect a Regent experience at Celebrity prices, you will not be disappointed. I enjoyed my Celebity cruises and hope that you and Alice will enjoy yours. ----------------- Helen

We too have sailed on and enjoyed Celebrity two or three times. I'm sure you and Alice will also enjoy them.

We will be on Celebrity after the Regent Miami party in March. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with Celebrity, it's my second favorite cruise line! You are going to love the Lawn club, 1/2 acre of grass with the best outdoor bar. It's aft and my favorite place for sail away as it's never crowded. Did your cruise have the special that includes alcohol, gratuities and wifi?

Yes, we got that "perks" package. That's a big reason I decided to book it hoping that would make it feel more like what we experience on Regent and Silversea. I love the lawn photo! I'm excited that so many people are saying encouraging things about sailing on Celebrity!

Not sure about Equinox but the celebrity ships I have been on had really wonderful martini bars! The bartenders all do that thing where they stack the glasses in a pyramid and pour different drinks simultaneously each reaching its respective glass without losing a drop. Cheesy? You bet. Tons of fun especially after you have had a few? You bet! I know you and Alice always enjoy yourselves so this will be no exception. ----------------- Helen

Also, the food in the MDR is actually quite good with interesting menu items. I don't think we have been disappointed ever. If you want to spend your ship board credit in the specialty restaurants, Tuscan grill is sort of like Prime 7 with fantastic seafood, soups and salads. (great filet mignon but you don't want to know about that, lol) I love the fleet of salt that they serve! The smoked salt was so good that I ordered some when I got home. The sushi restaurant is really popular, too. Here are a few more pic: The top deck is good for getting away from the busy main pool: The indoor pool: This really surprised me! Cloth towels instead of paper in the public restrooms! And the standard balcony room:

Thanks for posting those photos, Karen! It's very helpful seeing real photos instead of marketing photos. Gives me a much better feel for the ship. I like it! And thank you for the info about Tuscan Grill. We might have missed out on it --- wouldn't have expected it to be so good for seafood. I'm thinking this cruise is going to be awesome, especially for the price.

The Martini Bar Helen mentioned, "Crush" is so fun, we had drinks there every night and they even have a "martini flight" if you want to try small samples of different ones. Having the drink package really is nice, and you may have to show your card, but we found that the waiter we had in be bar most nights quickly remembered that we had the package and we didn't usually have to even show our card. The alternative restaurants we had were different than what Karen mentioned, but very good and we enjoyed them.

Thanks, JoAnn and Helen - It's funny. I have been thinking about that martini bar since Helen described it and the idea of it first started to fascinate me. I'm sure Alice will get a kick out of it. She gets enthralled by the chocolate fountain at the Bellagio.
