I still have not reserved a room in Amsterdam for the night before our river cruise on SANTA. Any recommendations?

Hi Donna,

Alan and I stayed at the Amstel InterContinental and loved this property and location.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza "City Centre" and liked it.
Location was good for walking around.
It was located only 4 blocks from the ship when we got off the
Amecello last time.

the "famous" Hotel Krasnapolsky is located in Dam Square which
is the center of the City Centre area.
We used it as a place to meet up with other LCT'ers.
Must be popular as the check in counter was always very busy.

The Marriott Renaissance is a block from the Crowne Plaza. It's also very close to the Centraal Train Station. You can take the train from the airport and walk to the hotel.

I was hoping you would comment Jim.
I could not remember the place you stayed at.
Where did Frank and Carla stay?

Pretty sure that Frank & Carla were at the Pulitzer (starwood).

Donna, the Intercontinental, Marriott, and Pulitzer(formerly Sheraton) are all listed as the only 5 star hotels on bidding for travel, which is the look to place for finding what hotels Priceline is using. I have made SO many good deals on PL, because I usually do it for airport hotels and don't care within the ** rating which one I use. Might be worth a look, if you would be happy with either of those chains. BFT has a message board where people tell what they paid for what hotels, and the dates. I always start bidding at less than half the website price. You can always re-bid.

Marriott Amsterdam [reviews]
Hotel Pulitzer (formerly Sheraton)
InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam (another possible hotel; not reported yet)

Thanks, everyone. Olivia, your information about PL is especially helpful. Hopefully, I'll have this settled by the end of the week.

Oops, I forgot: Looking forward to meeting Mark and Cheron on this trip.

I've just returned from a press trip in Poland and cities in former East Germany which put me in a European mood. Can't wait fo Amsterdam and our river cruise.

Olivia, I finally took your advice and placed a bid through Priceline. We are now booked at Amsterdam Marriott (drats, I was hoping for the Pulitzer). I have no idea how well (or not well) I did, but it is only for one night. I am definitely a Priceline newbie.
