Going to hit 100 again today here. However, as I watch the wildfires, storms and flooding elsewhere I will count my blessings - air conditioning being one of them. Hope everyone is staying safe and as comfortable as possible in this strange early summer weather.

Sue, I am tired of the heat already and it's not even July! Too much weird weather this spring, I hope they get the wildfires contained soon!

It is so HOT already, but I'm about to head out into it! Decided to take a cool break with LCT first.

Dare I say I'm freezing? Not that it's snowing or anything as severe as that, but I lost my sense of humour yesterday when it was not only very, very cold - it was raining and I missed out on my tennis - not a very happy chappy!!! Today, although still cold is sunny which makes it seem better. We didn't have a summer this year, so the cold seems worse somehow. I will read all your 'hot' stories and maybe get some warmth from them. Lee

Jan and I went to Billings Monday and got home Tuesday evening about 7:15 pm It was 102 both days there.
I just watched the weather on TV and Miles City broke a record today of 111 degrees and the wind was blowing pretty hard!!
Noticed that our flowers were looking tough and now I know why!

Brutal weather conditions, literally, all over the map. I'm scared to think what our fire season/Santa Ana winds will be like this year. With weather changes so dramatic, it's really hard to determine a "typical" season any more.

The extreme conditions throughout the world are alarming and concerning. I hope those impacted remain safe.

Tuesday and Wednesday were glorious in eastern NC. Lucky for me, I went to the beach and it was fantastic!. Today high 90s to begin 5 days in the 100s. ICK!! Think I'll run errands this AM and stay in for most of the weekend. Just too d@mn hot for me. Everybody stay safe.

Denise, we are having fires here in NC. I know the winds cause horrible issues with you all in SoCal.

Beth, I do hope the fires in NC are not anywhere near you. You're wise to go out and about in the early AM and then stay indoors when the heat is at its very worst.

The weather here in Orange County has been actually lovely and quite tolerable. However, it's been really dry with no rain for quite some time. Unfortunately, this is a very frequent occurance at this time of year and cause for concern insofar as our upcoming "fire season" fast approaches.

Denise, It's 103* right now and my attic fan has been running most of the day. This is the first time I've heard it run in the 25 years I've lived here. I sure hope you get some rain soon to keep the fires away.

Hope you are staying cool and hydrated, Beth.

The temps have inched up here today. We attended an outdoors Italian cooking class and the food wasn't the only thing cookin'! wink

Regrettably, no rain in SOCAL's future anytime soon sad

In the 100s here today as well. My job doesn't require a lot of outside time and I'm grateful - though for the past few days I've been outside more than I would prefer. This happens to be my weekend on duty so I'm dressed as lightly as I can be considering. Hoping for rain everywhere west and relief for the heat everywhere!

Checking in from the DC area. What a wild weekend. We had 70+mph winds for a brief moment Friday night that knocked out our power for 24 hours. Many friends are still without power. At one point 75% of all households were without power in our county. Some parts of Virginia had it even worse. It was the worst non hurricane weather event in Virginia history (as far as power outages go); probably the same can be said for Maryland. The electric company here says it could be until this Friday before 90% of households will be back online. Of course the 100 degree weather did not help things at all. As of 6pm Sunday there are still over 400 traffic lights still dark in our county. The federal government will have a liberal leave policy tomorrow and are encouraging everyone to work from home to keep the stress off the commuter routes so that crews can finish repairs. Now they say another comples of storms are heading this way that could arrive overnight.
The best news is that we were able to save all the contents of our wine refrigerator!! smiles

That is definitely good news, John.

We had a rough storm come through the afternoon. Before the storm temps were 101, after 75!!! It's sure is nice outside now and tomorrow is supposed to be our last 100* day for the next week. 90s here we come. dance

Hope all are safe!

John pretty much said it for all of the DC - VA - MD areas. Lots of trees down, and we lost one and large amounts of limbs and debris all over the yard. Still working on getting it all cleaned up, but hopefully by today we will be done. Didn't get any rain Saturday or last night so that was good news. On my walk this morning, saw lots of trees down all over the neighborhood and lots of branches, limbs etc all over. We were lucky and only lost power for short time on Friday night and for that we are most grateful.

Glad John you saved the wine -- priorties are priorities, and that your power is back on and you are ok. Need to check in with Tom and Mona, although I would imagine that Tom has had a very busy weekend.

Tom and Mona are fine, they didn't actually have any trees down and such. They did lose power until about 8am Saturday morning. Tom has obviously had a very busy weekend starting with the Supreme Court decision Friday and then into the weekend with storm coverage. He is also getting ready to leave again on Thursday for another around the world trip with his new best friend Hilary Clinton :-), so he has been very busy, but they are fine.

Sounds good for all, compared to many!

We were "cool" today at 93 instead of all time record 106 Sat and Sun!!! No rain around...

After a hot and dry June, with devastating fires in the south western part of the state, the summer monsoon afternoon rain just rolled into New Mexico two days ago. Not a moment too soon.

Happy Independence Day and hoping that everyone can stay cool in this stifling heat! Just curious (again!) and checked history - in 1776 the high in Philly was around 72 degrees. Who knows what document we would have ended up with if the weather had been like it is today....

108 in Vegas today. Spent several hours in the pool and came into an air conditioned house. Very little humidity. Heading to Phoenix tomorrow night where it will probably be hotter. Have to go to Mayo Clinic for John's 3 month check-up.
We know it will feel hotter in Thailand and India next April because of the humidity.

I heard some parts of the country are getting some relief. We're supposed to stay under a hundre today beofre hitting 108 sometime next week, but it was amazing how nice 77 degrees felt outside this morning.

Just checking in on everyone. How goes it?

Man you are lucky! The last 2 times we had AC breakdown, it happened on a Friday and they couldn't get here until Sunday or Monday!! One time, we actually took our RV to the State park and plugged in, the other time we checked into a local hotel. TOO HOT in Texas in the summer time to rough it (at least for me!)
