VICTORY!!!! :3smile: Good for you, Joanna - and honestly, we're with Tony on the idea of staying up all night on the 16th. Seriously. Our flight leaves not much later than yours (7:05am). We've got Regent air booked so I think our ride back to the airport is included. Otherwise we'd have been glad to share a ride back to the airport with you two!

I do love how it's all coming together!!!!

I guess persistence pays off. I'm dealing with Delta trying to get upgraded fare with points for ROAR. Maybe, maybe, I will get something. Website showing all biz seats available, and no seats available for upgrade. Crazy.

Glad you finally got it all worked out Joanna and especially that you feel good about it.

I was glad to be able to just get on the 12:45 flight to Madrid instead of waiting for the 3:30, gets us to Madrid a few hours earlier. We are staying two nights in Madrid.

Joanna - we're on the 6:55 Air France flight to Paris then directly home to Cincinnati on Delta.

Olivia - have you bought your M fare coach ticket yet, if you have you should be able to waitlist for Z business seat. Or give me your dates & flights and I can periodically check expertflyer.com for you to see when it opens up.

Anyone sleeping in and taking the 0950 Air France flight to CDG? If so, would love to share a taxi.

Kudos to you, Joanna! It's been a rough road, but you got it done, finally. We leave Venice at 7:45 a.m., so we'll be looking for companions for early transportation also.

Can you believe that two months from today we will have been onboard a couple of days already? Yea!

Oh my Priscilla how right you are - 2 days already onboard.

We have a 12:45 flight so we too are getting a chance to sleep in a bit and disembark later. Love to share transportation to airport with anyone. Marcie? do you guys want to share a cab? I know you are on the same flight right?

I might be up with Tony in the bar at 4am!

When VOF ended, we had a fast run to Rome airport. Ngaire, Ken, Sheri, Arlene, and I all shared a taxi. If I remember correctly, Sheri had the earliest flight. That cab driver sure made good time. At least the trip to Venice airport is much easier and the airport is not as large.

I am so ready for this trip.

Marcie - thats right forgot about you having Regent transportation, and thanks for the invitation, guess we can figure it out onboard, and if it works we'd love to join you and Tom.

Well I don't think we will be staying up till 4am, but who knows, Frank gets a little nutsy sometimes and may just decide to join you'all in the bar.

Agree Marc, soooooo ready for this trip and seeing everyone again, HoDown did take the edge of as Joanna said, but you were missing as she also said. Soooo everyone soon, very soon, Kristin and Priscilla our cheerleaders will keep the excitemenht building. :ch: :ch:

Yes but you know when you get a rep (Regent or air FF) that seems DUMB??? I think I got one but that's what he quoted me he seemed confused about VCE port - we'll cab it and try and make cab reservations on our own prior....

I think we just need to check with the "desk" on board so that they arrange to have cabs that early for us.

Great idea Peter - I was getting little stressed as Regent Rep had no suggestions other than private car - it'll all work out fine

I'm sure that Regent "desk" will be able to assist, there are probably lots of people who have very early flights, even ones booked by Regent, so I'm sure they can help arrange a cab or something. Maybe you can even purchase their transfer onboard, it seems they offer that option if I remember right.

I was thinking about using some of our onboard credit for an early-morning transfer to the airport through Regent. Don't know if that makes sense. (Not if it's $299!) If not, taxi here we come. It may be more fun to use onboard credit for somethng else anyway.

EIGHT WEEKS from this evening is the pre-cruise dinner in Athens! :woh: :woh: :woh:

Yeah - possibly for us too - not sure what we're going to use all that onboard credit now that excursions are either free or pre-paid.

Peter, you can book spa treatments like we did or there's always premium wine! Can you use SBC towards Bingo cards ?

Also, found this site showing what other ships will be in Venice on Oct 17th, the day we disembark.
I'm wondering if Berth 027 is a good location since we overnight there ?

My Italian is limited (to say the least), but if you click on "crociere" at the top on the left side of the page on your link, there's a map of the port area. I'm not sure how to interpret the map, but the location looks like it's kind of out of the way. The terminal for berth 27 is terminal 21/22 (the little green rectangle to the left of the berth). It does look like an airport shuttle goes down in that area. Also it looks like there's six other ships there on the 17th --including the Westerdam and the Costa Serena. Does anyone else know more about that area or does anyone read Italian?

I think the berth location is pretty good for the overnight stay. It looks to be about the same spot the ship was in when we embarked on our cruise back in 2007. Pretty easy water taxi ride to St. Mark's square or Rialto bridge area. Could even walk from the terminal area to Grand Canal (about 1/2 mile). I do remember that the spot where the water taxis dropped us off to go thru the terminal was pretty congested - pretty high bank and limited pier area with lots of stairs, so we like had to que up among many other taxis to wait our turn.
Here's a Venice Map with the "*" showing where the cruise ship (berth 27) is in relation to the other sites, anfd the "+" shows where the water taxis dropped us off.
Here's the terminal map with the "*" showing where the water taxis pick you up and drop you off.
Since you will be disembarking there, probably easier to take a land taxi to the airport, as it's much easier to get your luggage loaded and unloaded. But as I understand it, budget a little more time for land taxi.

Well, duh! It makes a lot more sense in English, although Italian is a lovely language ;) Thanks for the maps, Cindy. When we've docked in Venice before, it's always been in the Maritimma Basin, but it's been a few years since we've been there. We'll be staying on the ship this time and sailing back to Athens before we disembark, so I'm mostly interested in how easy it is to get out and about from this location. We usually prefer taking the water ferries to get around in Venice rather than a water taxi--they're a lot less expensive.

Peggy, I hadn't realized you were doing a B2B and cruising back to Athens. That will be fun! We're sort of doing a B2B as well but on the front end w/ different cruise line.

There's a Vaporetto stop right there at the same place I showed on the map where the Taxi dropped us off (it's the San Basilio stop - this route will take you all the way around and down the Grand Canal). Or you can walk about 1/2 mile from the ship docking area to the Grand Canal and hop on one that just does the canal. I love the Vaporetto!

Here are a couple of maps - they are about 3 years old, but maybe will help a little in pre-planning.
