Good Morning! We’re sailing into the Rio de Janeiro harbor and it’s just gorgeous!! It’s so large and impressive with all the mountains and skyscrapers. We have a very busy couple of days planned since this is our first trip here. We even have a dinner outing tonight for 10 of us at a local restaurant followed by a Samba Show.
Joanna & Tony, us, and Ngaire and Ken had a farewell breakfast this morning up on the La Veranda deck watching the “sail in”. We will sure miss Ngaire & Ken when they disembark today.
We had lots of fun last night in the STARS lounge. It was “Latin Night” with great music. Once again, the lounge was packed with lots of dancing and fun. I even had a tequila shooter! We called it a night around 12:30 knowing we would have a long couple of days ahead of us seeing Rio. We have a private English-speaking driver lined up for the next couple of days (compliments of H.Stern) for Joanna, Tony, Tom and me.
Fun dinner last night at Signatures for 16 of us. We had 2 tables of 8 celebrating a birthday and an anniversary.
Life doesn't get any better!!!

Thanks for reporting and enjoy Rio. Have you already tried a caipirinha?

How exciting, you are going to have such a fun day! There are a million webcams in Rio and I can't find one that points at the harbor!!

Have a sensational time in Rio! And as Maria suggested...be sure to have a caipirinha...or if you dare, two!!! And if you have time, just sit out at any of the outdoor cafes along Copacabana or Ipanema beach, have a choppe (it's been so long, I forgot how they spell it!) and watch the people!!!
Probably one of THE most exciting travel experiences for me was going to Carnivale in downtown Rio(this was in 1979, before they built the big Samba arena). What an experience! The music, the costumes (or lack of!) the dancing, the people is so incredible! Glad you'll get a taste of it at the Samba show tonight!!

Thursday 10:45 am - I am in a rush to get off of the ship - we had fun yesterday and last night. Had an outstanding meal in Rio, 4 couples, food was sooooo good!! We ate before the 10 pm show which ended around 11:30 PM (we left early to beat the mass exodus and had a driver waiting for us yeah!!! Show was about 30 minutes from ship) - another fun day planned today and 2 sea days starting tomorrow - I'll go into more detail tomorrow name of restaurant etc - sun is not shining which means it is not so very hot -

Friday 11:15 am
Wednesday we toured Rio with one of the jewelry drivers and an English-speaking guide, Liza. She was so helpful and spoke English beautifully. She had been an exchange student in Michigan her senior yr in high school. We took the trip to Sugar Loaf – worthwhile. I think I returned to the ship about 3 pm as we were meeting for dinner off the ship. The restaurant, “Antiquarius”, Rua Aristides Espinola, 19, Leblon, Rio was outstanding. There were 4 couples in our group and several others from the ship and everyone raved about their meal!! I would highly recommend it and the décor is charming – I think it was $150 per couple but we had cocktails and wine. After dinner the driver took us to the Radisson Samba show, which started about 10 and ended at 11:30 pm – we were all tired and happy to get “Home” before midnight! (We paid $68 pp for “Samba Sounds & Glitter” it was just ok!)
Thursday more walking and shopping. However, I am very sorry I did not take a tour called “Lesser Known Rio and its Favelas” – only 9 in a van, excellent guide, 3 hrs, $37pp – everyone I spoke to found it fascinating – last night dinner in CR and then wonderful sail away party at 10 PM – it was announced late due to weather cooperating – it did! What a beautiful city at night!!
Rogerio (F&B), Martin (HD) and John all do an excellent job. John (Barron) is an outstanding cruise director. They all are very approachable and can’t do enough for the passengers. I hope you have the pleasure of meeting them on MUSH!! I am sure Radisson realizes how fortunate they are to have such wonderful representation from these gentlemen~!
Slept in this morning and 2 sea days to rest and have fun – looks like a gorgeous day and temp is 82 – pool time I think - Joanna

Yea! Another South American Adventure Story from the M&Ms!
So glad you enjoyed Rio. Rest up, kids, we're waiting for more stories.
I think you have to remember to log out when you're done on LCT at club.com. This happened to us a few times on Voyager (posting under each other's logon names) and that was the reason.
Cheers, Anne

Joanna, Rio sounds like the pick of the crop on your intinerary so far!
I have a really dumb question. According to your post, you are 3 hours ahead of us in time. I thought South America was BEHIND us East Coasters in time??
Editing to add, I looked at a map and that really WAS a stupid queston I asked!!
