I weighed myself today and I have lost a total of six pounds. I'm not following the South Beach any more but I am watching what I eat. My cruise clothes are tight but at least they fasten. I'll be happy if I just keep the weight off until I leave in 29 days. I might do another week of South Beach induction before I leave to give me a kick start. Congratulations Don! You have impressive diet stamina!

OMG I can't believe I am posting on this thread (someone who needs to post here but too lazy for a weight routine) BUT just met gal today who has lost 50 lbs in 16 months - of course I asked how? Hoping she'd say you just take a little pill and it fades away - she said the 3 "W's" - walking, water, and watching portions - sounds so easy and it has worked for her - she looks fantastic - now walks 5 miles a day (she has to get up at 5:30 am to get in the 5 miles...ouch ) , drinks water constantly (easy) and eats small portions (what if it is delicious??) - will it work for me? No but thought I would share -

JoAnna,
Thanks for the encouragement. I am down 5 lbs this last week (or a little more). Same 5 lbs I lost last year, but, I have a bit to go. I am working with a nutritionist, but, basically it's the calories and volume eating - lots of lettuce, veggies, chicken, fish (6 - 8 oz protein a day) and very small amounts of breads, cereals and carbs. I love my nightly sweets and I am eating small amounts of ice cream or frozen yogurt, or I found packs of oreo cookies - two to a pack - 100 calories. Water is easy. The walking, that's not hard, it's just the time part.
Hoping for a whole new wardrobe by end of summer.

Congratulations, Kathy! Keep it up and go for that new wardrobe.
Joanna, the three w's diet sounds reasonable. I noticed it wasn't the four w's: water, walking, watcing portions and wine. That wine (and champagne) are not a dieter's friend, unfortunately.

My diet includes wine and cosmos!! Trade in for the oreo's and frozen yogurt. Actually, can have both. Just limited to 2 - 100 calorie snacks per day!!

Congrats Kathy on the recent loss. It's often about momentum, so keep it up!
Yes, I am sabotaged by wine, I know it.
Now I'll go do my exercises. The nice thing about my cross-trainer is that I can do more in a shorter time. A colleague of mine walks about an hour a day, and he has lost about 10 pounds, but I'd rather do it in 20 minutes! I do walk alot in my daily life, of course, living downtown, our car stays in the garage most of the time.

Wendy, I just read your information on the PBX. That sounds like such an interesting idea. How's it going with using it? Next question is where do you buy it? I think I need something to jump start my diet. It's so hard to get motivated.
I have to say I love you guys for this thread, finally somewhere to vent our weaknesses and not be ashamed, lol. I think I inherited the wrong genes.

Diane,
There is a simplicity menu and lots of good choices you can make from the food onboard. Someone here does WW - but there is always something you can choose from at every meal. I'd avoid the buffet at La Verandah if you have a "broken chooser". Just ask for things in the dining room the way you want them - they try very hard to please and food can be cooked to order. You might tell the Maitre D when you board that you want things without butter/oil, sauces on the side etc.

Thanks. I've gotten used to using fat free versions to stave hunger--yogurt, salad dressings, cottage cheese, and hoped I could get those onboard. Of course, one can't be too rigid now, can one--especially since I seem to remember some entries about RSSC's truffles, perhaps winding up in a napkin?

Diane, I am a lifetime WW on core. As Kathy said, lots of good choices are available. You probably won't find things like the fat free cheese (it's yucky anyway!) but if you stick mainly to protein, veggies, and fruit, you will do fine. We were on the PG last December and I did gain a few pounds but I had a plan. Eat moderately for breakfast and lunch, stay active, no snacking, and "let loose" more for dinner. Portions are not huge so you can try things without overindulging. For me the temptations are bread and desserts, all excellent, and which I eat very little of in everyday life.
Good luck!

I'm a weight watcher that has lost 60 pounds on points. We were on the Voyager in March and I really had no problem staying on my program. There were many choices and lots of fish. I did cheat a few times with dessert but it did not do any real damage. Low fat yogurt was always available in many flavors. Portion control is key, and stay away from tea time..... Breakfast and lunch were real easy and I had no problem with dinner choices. Good luck and have a great time

Wow Doris! 60 lbs - that's terrific! I'm still on that merry go round looking for the right program. I was an original WW in the late 60's. I've tried it a few times since, but, not since points came out. Maybe it's time to go back.

WW is the best - I've been a life time member for 4 years and find that portion control is the most important thing. I force myself to weigh in at least monthly, and even when we are out of town. I guess I am so neurotic about the scale that the thought of getting on one keeps me in line.
Of course, being on board a ship is a different story and time will tell how well I do on the Navigator this Christmas.

OK Kathy, here it is like we talked about! I figured it was time to bump this up. At least on my part. I haven't been on here since March 19th and several pounds ago!!! Now we have our daughters wedding breathing down our necks on November 4th and a tux in the closet that I'd need a crowbar to get into it, and our SAND cruise in December.
I am going to need all the help that I can get. Tomorrow is weigh in and it is going to be really ugly. Hope the dial doesn't just spin right off into outer space! I am going to set my goal after I know the extent of the damages.

Well, Don, if the truth be told I've gained enough weight since we started the original thread before we went on PIP that I am right back where I started. I weighed in officially today and went back to see the nutritionist. I have lost 4 lbs since my weekend cruise - I started modification of my eating last week.
Now I have committed to getting up early to exercise every day. Glad you're joining me in our Pre-SAND Food Follies. All the lettuce fit to eat.
Anyone else?

I am so glad you bumped this thread up. I was just sitting here thinking "why did the scale stop moving down?" I even made it through the Navigator relatively unscathed, and now I am just stuck. Hopefully my body will read this thread and get itself going--it needs to take me for more walks.

Diane, glad you are joining us. We need all the help we can get.
Kathy, I stepped on the scale today and lets just say that I really have my work cut out for me. I can do it though. My goal is simple: Into the tux by wedding time November 4th and down 50 by cruise time on 12/11. I figure that if I can lose 7 lbs this week and then average about 2.5 lbs per week for the following 17 weeks then I am there.
I am already getting a headache (lack of carbs, sugar, and caffeine), so I know my body is going to be in rebellion.

Diane, same for you. I am glad you are joining us as well.
Almost time for bed and some tylenol pm! I will be in pain for about another two days and then I will be fine. Always hard getting going again.

Good luck everybody, glad to see this thread re-activated.
I've been in big trouble the last several weeks 'cause I got run down by a bicycle and hurt my foot. Luckily it was only an eight-year old, but still, I sprained all the muscles in the top of my foot, and I was laid up completely for most of a week. Sitting in an easy-chair watching movies on TV and eating, a recipe for weight disaster! And I've been still recovering from the cordon bleu course on WAVE, I felt like a goose ready to have my liver harvested after that cruise!
For some reason, as fall approaches getting on track with the weight-control gets easier for me--maybe it's the old "back to school" thing. I am hoping I can start exercising and get back in control for SAND in December!! Yikes!

Ahoy Mateys! I have gained the weight back that I lost on Nutri System from our Jamaica trip and the Alaska cruise...so here I am back at getting the weight off before November 1.
My boss will be married 11/3 in Jamaica and she sure doesn't want her Matron of Honor to look like the Good Year blimp!
I started back on NS a few weeks ago and took off 5 lbs., so now I have maybe 12 more to go.
Oh how I wish I could be one of those lucky women who can eat whatever they want and still fit in to a size 8 pair of jeans (which right now are hanging in my closet laughing at me - as I slip on a pair of size 10). :mecry:

Ah gee Sue, you must be one of those lucky women with a small waist! I have no waist, never have, although having no hips kind of compensates. I have not fit into a size 10 since I was about 14 years old, and weight 110 pounds. I constantly strive for size 14, and frequently make it, but lots of those clothes are a titch tight right now!

Okay Girls, let's just say I 'd be happy in a 14 about now. One pound at a time. Um, where did that person in the mirror come from? Aren't I still a size 4?

That is one reason I love Chico's we all fit in to a nice small size according to their charts.
I am not sure how I do it as my weight would make one think I should wear a 14, but it is disbursed all over not just in one area.
