Hello LCT. We’re Dave and Christie from Denver, CO. Like most newcomers, we’ve been lurking for a few months. Our cruising background is fairly limited. Our first cruise was an escorted Alaska land/cruise on Princess. After that it was Celebrity twice, western Caribbean and the Mexican Riviera. Now we’re ready for the big leagues. We’re booked on the PG in July for our 25th anniversary with 5 days in Bora Bora precruise. To say we’re excited would be a huge understatement. We’ve been planning it since the 2007 itineraries came out last year.

Dave’s a computer nerd and Christie is starting a long arm quilting business. We both enjoy cooking, eating, drinking, quilting, and hiking. Christie is crafty and enjoys crocheting, beading, scrap booking, and anything else that strikes her. Dave enjoys mountain biking, photography, and has taken a recent interest in drawing and pastels. Oh, I almost forgot, we enjoy traveling. Up until a few years ago, we had put over 150,000 miles on a Gold Wing motorcycle touring the western US and Canada. We traded in the bike for cruising. Now we’re hooked. Our children consist of two boys.

Kahlua (and cream) and Tequila. We refer to them as King Kahlua and Prince Tequila as we are their humble servants, catering to their every want. I have hundreds of pictures which I will get on a web site somewhere in the future.

We have learned so much from you over the last few months as well as having been very entertained (I followed TUSH daily). You dispelled the myth that luxury cruisers are stuffy and snooty. We look forward to getting to know you, both virtually and in person.

Ahoy, Christie & Dave. Welcome to LCT-land! We're happy to meet you & thanks for your nice comments re: TUSH. (We sure did have a ball with that one!) Your kitties are so precious & I'm assuming they are curled up on one of your beautiful quilts. You will have a great time on the PG for your anniversary! It will be July before you know it!

Welcome Dave and Christy!

What part of Denver are you from? My husband, Frank, went to DU (Denver University) and grew up in the Cherry Creek/Captiol Hill neighborhoods. What a great area to be in to have photography as your hobby! Such beautiful areas you have to hike and bike in too!

Thanks everybody! You certainly know how to make people feel welcome.

Kathy - we are in Southwest Denver, close to Red Rocks. Lots of photo ops within walking distance. We have some pretty incredible sunsets over the foothills.

Hi Joanna. It's Dave. I will probably do most of the posting as it provides a welcome distraction from work. There is so much we are looking forward to on this trip. OWB in Bora Bora, 10 days on the PG, small ship, pearls, pareos (both for Christie to wear and for me to cut up and put in quilts), and FP food.

Welcome Dave and Christie! Your cats are adorable, so many cat lovers on LCT. Wasn't TUSH fun? I miss the daily laughs and absurdities (not sure this is a word)
Keep us in seamail from the PG and keep posting.

Hello Dave and Christie, and welcome!!! You will love it here on LCT. And you will love the PG and the magic of the French Polynesians. We did a 10-day PG cruise for our anniversary this past June and loved it so much, we can't wait to go back this New Year's.

We are here with you to answer any questions and help with the countdown, which is almost as fun as the vacation itself!

Welcome Dave and Christie!! I'm glad that our group doesn't come across as stuffy and snooty (TUSH probably ruined all of our images) ;)

Your cats are beautiful!

Hey, welcome Christie and Dave! You will love the PG, it's a perfect thing to do on an anniversary. We have spent our 20th and 25th on her!

My husband still rides a motorcycle in the summer. He used to have a BMW touring bike back in the old days, but has been content with a Yamaha Virago in recent times. He's not been on any long trips lately, just drives to the cottage a couple of times a summer, but he's been across the country and to Mexico in the past.

Welcome Christie and Dave. Alan (my hubby) is envious of your motorcycle adventures. He used to ride a Harley but after he married me, he traded it in to buy me a grand piano. What a guy!

Seriously, enjoy LCT.

Thanks everyone. LCT is such an escape for me while at work. It's great to take a few minutes from annoying bosses and stupid computers to pretend I'm cruising with whomever happens to be on one. Like the WC people now! :lct:

Donna - I hope Alan loves your music as much as you love the piano. At least that way you are both enjoying it. Christie plays as well (when she has time), but no room for a grand (or even a baby grand) in our house!

We look forward to meeting all of you in the future. Please let us know when you're in Denver.

Dave

Dave, Alan loves to listen to me play. Unfortunately, don't have the time lately. He says if I don't start playing soon, I'll have a beautiful Harley sitting in its place!

LCT is a great escape (one of the reasons I don't play the piano as much as I used to.) Enjoy!

Thanks Pam!
I don't think I've meet a cat that's not adorable. The quilt is actually a chair back corver I made to protect the leather. When they get to chasing each other around the house, they like to use the back of the chair as a launching point. Cat's claws and leather don't mix. So instead of just throughing a blanket over them, I made these covers. There are 2 of them with different blocks going all around so they can be turned.

Dave,

I am also a quilter. I joined a "sewing class" while living here in the UK and have enjoyed learning new techniques and meeting some fun ladies.

Cheers, Pam

PS.....I understand about making things for pets. I ended up making a quilt for my little dog since she always cuddled on whatever I was working on. The hand quilting on her little blanket was in the shape of bones!

Outstanding Pam! Pet's and quilts tend to go together. In order for Christie to practice on the long arm, she has made several practice pieces out of cheap fabric. They end up in piles that become the boy's throne. They particularly like the ones on the top shelf close to the lights. It's warm and cozy and they can keep an eye on us. They lead such a rough life.

You probably noticed the chair backs were all paper pieced. That's lots of fun and very precise. I'm currently working on a Cal. king log cabin. I'm hoping to have the top ready for Christie before we leave in July.

I'm not much for hand work. I've done a little needle turn applique, but I much prefer the machine. It's not that it's that much faster, I find that I have better control over stitches and my applique comes out smoother. I took a class from Sue Nickels and learned some techniques for invisible applique that I really like.

What are you working on?

Dave

Well glad to see a post for the July 10 day cruise. Have you signed up for your shore excursions yet? I see you are a quilter. I work for the local newspaper and we publish quilting books that are very popular. Counting the days to the trip here in Olathe, Ks.(Kansas City)
